I know there was money in HBK and HHH Feuding but I can't help but wonder how they would've tortured Bischoff if they had reformed DX in 2002.

It would have been as great as the reunion in 2006 - 07 and 2009 - 10. I would have loved to see the Clique as an onscreen stable.

I honestly don't think the 2002 version would have been that great. I think it would have fizzled out fast actually.
The 2006 reformation of DX had such a slow build from Wrestlemania 22 until June. They were teasing Triple H and HBK together for months, even though Triple H was still technically a heel.
Plus with Triple H turning on HBK in 2002, we ended up getting Evolution. And honestly I feel that 2004 on Raw wouldn't have been that amazing if not for Evolution vs. Edge, Jericho, Benoit and others.

This is probably just me but I believe DX should never have went back to just HHH and HBK. DX was at it's peak when it was the DX army from 1998 to 2000 and I despised the 2006 return because the DX army was wiped from existence
As for 2002 I would have liked to see a DX vs nWo storyline. Just think HHH refuses to join the nWo and Michaels sides with him and as the months pass Billy Gunn joins them and then X-Pac is left to choose which side he's on but eventually goes with DX.
You could've had HHH, Michaels, X-Pac and Billy Gunn vs Nash, Big Show and 2 new members.

Would have been too soon. Plus everyone was sick of factions by that point.

Exactly. I wouldn't even have cared if it turned out to be "Finger Pokes of Doom", with the formation of nDXWo, who would try and take over both Raw and Smackdown as an inter-brand stable.

Dx and the nWo merging would've been very interesting. X-Pac was the link between both groups and it could've been better than the entire Invasion storyline.

The Alliance (WWF, WCW, and ECW) vs. New D-Generation X World Order (nWo, DX, and bWo)
This would have been better than the Invasion storyline we actually had.

people wanted to cheer shawn because he'd just came back and is a great wrestler, so triple h's eventual turn back to heel is almost inevitable.

The 3 Federations from the Monday Night Wars joining forces to fight their dominant stables would've been the greatest thing ever. Here is how I would've booked Survivor Series. Stone Cold WWF Hollywood Hogan nWo The Rock WWF Kevin Nash nWo Goldberg WCW VS Triple H DX Sting WCW Shawn Michaels DX RVD ECW Super Nova BWO Sabu ECW Stevie Richards BWO

Inter-brand Stable!! That would have been a huge draw. Not do it like WCW did with the NWO (had way to many members) but just main guys. [Hall, Nash, H, Shawn] I can see them feuding only to trick Everybody into forming a new group by cleaning the ring from all the Invasion wrestlers. Then leading on to a new story line with a new threat to the WWE.

DX wouldn't have worked in 2002 for a variety of reasons. Triple H's run as a face had ran it's course by the Summer of 2002. Also, with Shawn Michaels back in the WWE, the fans just didn't want to boo him. Triple H turning on Shawn Michaels was the excellent foil to get the fans to hate Triple H who would have a solid heel run from July 2002 to May/June of 2006.
With that said, if DX has reformed in 2002, I am sure the landscape would have been vastly different. Everybody has to remember, the reasons Evolution was around was to cement Triple H as the number one heel in the company, give Ric Flair something to do, and establish Randy Orton and Batista as the next main event attractions. Even after a dozen years since the end of Evolution, the affects are still felt on not only WWE bus the world as well. Who knew in 2002, Batista would be making waves in Hollywood and Orton being a top player in the WWE.
People can say what if DX reformed in 2002 but in the long run, would have been a detriment to the WWE's long term health. 2006 was the perfect time because the WWE had already established new main event guys in John Cena, Orton, and Batista. Additionally, DX was used as a vehicle to keep both Triple H and Shawn Michaels away from the World title scene. Thus, allowing Cena to further establish himself as "The Guy."
