I buy only Elites!
I used to be a completionist but the few Elites that I've bought and ended up disliking later are giving to friends kids who like WWE.
I love my collection but now I only buy figures that I appreciate the wrestler and or attire.

Only collecting MOC Mattel Retro series. If I collected Elites like most of you, I'd be broke and long ago run out of space for them.

For me it was only buying elites and occasionally a basic if I needed the head or part.Sometimes I would get a figure just because I wanted to complete a roster, not any more. Now it just consists of elites. I'm narrowing it down to WCW guys and refuse to buy any figure that I know a better version is coming out for or if I feel like is half assed ex elite 51 Reigns and AJ, no new parts or really anything to get me to want them. I'll get an AJ when they fix his parts. I'm mainly cherry picking the line, but it saves me money to get other things I need.

Has been working but I just keep buy new upcoming elites that I really want lol. So its hard once your commitment to a toy line. Time will tell so don't worry have fun yolo!

I stopped collecting mostly, but if the quality and value is there, I will get it. When I rarely buy, it is Flashback or has o be an amazing paint job like the Demon.
If I get Macho from Elite and he is missing a key accessory I will skip
If I see an awful face scan, I will skip it.
It must come with the right accessories, great face scan and offer value. So I will not get the DM Warrior Maniac for example, but eyeing Tatanka or Big Boss Man and so forth.

Collect only Championship Title Belts. They don't take up too much space, and the space they do take up looks magnificent.

Only buy the figures I really like and know I will use/display. If I don't want a fig anymore I will sell/trade it.

I've always had a system. From when I started collecting in the Monday Night Wars era, it was one figure of each superstar. I'd just keep my favorite look/attire and "upgrade" where needed, selling the old ones on. But in about 2011 I realized I hadn't been into the current product in almost a decade and the figures of superstars I didn't really know or like were starting to seem like they were overwhelming and diluting my display, and I was increasingly resenting how much money I was spending on those unfamiliar characters too. So in 2011 I changed my system to only collect superstars who were around in the Monday Night Wars era. That is, WCW or WWF, between the years 1995-2001. With just a very few exceptions of characters outside that era I have somehow become familiar with and am a fan of. I still only have one figure of each superstar for the most part, though I have relaxed this rule a little and now have two versions of a few stars, mostly one in wrestling gear and one in street gear (e.g. NWO members, Horsemen and a few others) but also a few of two different gimmicks (e.g. Hulk Hogan and Hollywood Hogan, or Harlem Heat Booker T and singles Booker T) which is not something I used to do.
But yeh, my new system works fairly well. Though as always happens space is again becoming tighter as the years go by.

I don't keep it under control lol, I have like 4 of every elite, the only thing I actually behave with is basics, I only buy women & suited figs for me, and some basics for my kids.

There's a guy on here who trashes figures, maybe learn a thing or 2 from him.

I don't buy everything I want as soon as it comes out (anymore) This avoids impulse buys & buyers guilt.
I have so many figs I never really wanted or needed because when I first started collecting I focused on quantity 'I have to have them all, I need the biggest collection'...nope
And I'll admit it took me about a year before it dawned on me...Quality.
So now I go for months without buying anything (unless it's something I really want that's on sale that's my only time I can break my rule) and then I'll allow myself a set budget to splurge...
You will end up with quality over quantity because you'll leave yourself no choice ha
