Hey guys, just a thought, how many would wanna see Mattel do a separate, new series just for flashback figures? And who would you wanna see in that series that have not already been made & released? Personally I'd love to see this happen soon.

I only buy flashbacks so of course I'd love this. But it's been reiterated over and over by Mattel that it's not happening. You are gonna get many people here who will reply that it's fine the way it is because it's already been tried before and the way it is now seems to work the best. The number of flashbacks may not have been cut down but the number of them that are desirable to me have become so much less .

I don't remember another series like this except for the CS.

They should just make the elite line mostly flashbacks tbh.

The Mattel "Legends" line. Oh ok, I had no idea the the Legends were considered a flashback series. Well in hindsight, it pretty much was.

The Elite Lost Legends Series (44.5 or whatever folks want to refer to it as) is the closest to an entire-Flashbacks series release. 5 out of the 6 I believe were flashbacks...

The Legends line failed. I feel Mattel will always be hesitant to try an entire Flashback line.
Also, "they should just make the Elite line mostly Flashbacks"... what a ridiculous statement. 🙄

With HOF lines and other lines it's not needed. We've already got one line like this (except the Jericho) in the lost legends series. In my opinion I think the main priority for the Elites, basics and battle pack lines for Mattel should be to recreate the current product. One or two flashbacks a line is fine but we don't need any more than that, imo.

We've debated about it a lot over the years here, with every year I think the idea sounds a little bit more reasonable. Splitting everything up on top of all the current store exclusives would be pretty crazy, even though I'd be on board 100%.
I just think that every Legends figure doesn't need to be an Elite(like Jakks CS were mostly basics), like not everyone is gonna buy Skinner or Ken Patera for $20, but I'd pay $20+ for WM14 Undertaker or WM9 HBK in entrance gear all day.

As much as I would love it...it wouldn't work as you would still have basics, BP and Elites on the pegs (not to mention their gimmick figures such as Zombies/mutants) all competing with one another for sales. In the long run that would just end up hurting sales across the board. And that isn't even taking into consideration Exclusive lines like TNF or HOF.

In the long run that would just end up hurting sales across the board. And that isn't even taking into consideration Exclusive lines like TNF or HOF. That is a good reason why. When the original Legends line was out, our Walmart never carried them and stopped carrying Elites for awhile. Other than the few figures that Walgreens has and the few basics that Freds has, Walmart is the only place in town that carries WWE figures. So if they made a completely separate line for Flashbacks, there's a chance that some stores may not even get the line.

I wouldn't necessarily mind this. Sometimes there's too many Flashbacks in a new series release, which takes up slots for other newer figures that could have taken their places. At the same time, if this was done, it could slow down the amount of new releases of regular Elites, which could be looked at as good or bad depending on what kind of collector you are. If you collect a lot, this would help you financially. If you don't, then you could become impatient waiting on new releases. So you've got your pros and cons either way you go.

It would be cool to see a couple 4 figure series a year of Legends but we would need to see some new names. if it was just flat repeats all the time it probably would not interest me.

No and for a few reasons. First being I only like buying one or two figures per set. It's easier on my budget and I can buy all flashbacks. Another being we don't get 100 repaints. Mattel has stated they won't sign talent that isn't under a legends/wwe contract. Finally, I don't know how long a legends series would last with those factors of eventually running out of talent and then just having repaints

Nah!
Mattel can't sign wrestlers like they did for their Legends line. It doesn't seem like WWE has a lot of legends sign to Legends contract. So a full line of flashbacks would just be a lot of repainted attires of the same wrestlers we all have.

I'd be cool with it if the just made the retro line all flashbacks.

I wouldn't mind seeing more Lost Legends style one-off waves so I can hopefully catch up on some figs that I've missed (Vader, Rikishi, ABA Taker spring to mind) but I don't know if it'd be a line that'd sell well enough to warrant its own series. But then again Tough Talkers are a thing so never say never I guess.
