Probably the same reason as anyone else. Grew up watching wrestling as a little kid and as a kid I liked having toys. Started at a very young age with Hasbros.
I'd say the peak of my wrestling figure collecting were the TTL days. I was 10-11 years old and it was the Attitude Era so it was a good time for figures. I have a lot of fond memories of going to Target and KB every weekend looking for figures. Finding the first Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit figures were highlights of my childhood. There was also the one set that included a really cool Kane in his tank top attire and the first Real Scan Steve Austin. I was hyped to find those.
I don't collect anymore though. I'll get a figure here and there. The Defining Moments Crow Sting is probably my favorite figure of all time. Also looking into the List of Jericho figure.

The reason I started in general was because I was a huge wrestling fan when I was like 10 and wanted the toys... The reason I restarted collecting about 3-4 years ago is because of how awesome the Mattel figures looked compared to what I remembered from Jakks.

My older brothers collected ljns. I basically started towards the end of the Ljn line and then into the Hasbros, on to jakks, and to Mattel. I've never had a point where I wasn't collecting figures. Hopefully that never changes.

I was addicted to painkillers for about 10 years, and decided to stop. When I did, I found I had alot of extra money since I wasnt blowing it all on pills. Went to Walmart one day and saw E22 Rock. That shiny, detailed VAC belt sucked me in. I havent looked back. Almost 200 figs in, and no end in sight.

Because the kid in me didn't get all the wrestling figures he wanted in the late 80's. When it was time for me to buy my kid wrestling figures, I jumped all over it. All in.
"You want him, buddy? Let's get him."
I tried to deny myself before he collected, sadly. I was in the toy section of WalMart and had a Honky Tonk Man in hand and put him back. The 10 year old in me was screaming to buy it since I didn't get his LJN but, alas, I put him back. I now regret that. Same with DM Bret Hart. And George Steele. And Legends Warrior. And Kerry Von Erich. And especially Iron Sheik.
I did, however, cave in and purchased Legends Macho Man and Richard Steamboat. That's what started it all. I did that for the kid who obsessed over WMIII...who still does to this day.

I started collecting as a cover so Jack Specific and I could be friends despite the fact I was just a young boy... I never thought I'd see the day I seriously considered you one of the best members on this board lmfao seriously dude, that is gold. <3 you Eternally :* I was on AFR or figurezone when I was 11 and lied about 2 yrs up even before the "13 or up" thing was on msg boards..... I was Mod of the ent board when it died (AFR)..and became admin here in '03 or whatever I think. I'm 30 now. What is wrong with my life? A lot. I started collecting figures to impress girls in middle school. Girls dig it, guys! Keep collecting! Don't be insecure! In fact ask your lady friends if they like the figures that vibrate. You would be surprised. edit: the talking Rowdy Roddy Piper figure (I was rowdy before it was cool!) turns one of my f/ friends on like wild. I just send her the youtube video of him saying a few lines (or his voiceover) and she's flicking the bean in minutes!

I started collecting in 2008. But, the 2006 Christmas I got a Edge/Kurt Angle two pack? Edge was in these red tights with silver boots a attire he never actually wore. But, that was the start. I really can't tell why. I saw WWE, I looked up to Edge,HBK, Triple H and few others. So I wanted to recreate it with my action figures.
The first figures I got was HBK/Cena WM 23 2 pack, Edge/Mr Kenedy 2 pack, Batista/John Cena Raw entrance set, DA DX HBK, and the Money In The Bank playset.

I was really into wrestling, and thought they were cool. Now I look back on how much money I spent on them and shake my head.

There was a kid who would bring them in his backpack to kindergarten so I got some for my birthday, too. That's how this whole mess got started.

I started collecting in the late 90's during the Attitude Era because I was a kid who loved wrestling and I liked playing with figures. At that time, i was collecting both WCW and WWF figures and had rings from both companies along with the WWF titan tron set.
Up until last year, I hadn't bought any figures since 2004 when I bought Rey Mysterio in his blue pants and John Cena in his purple briefs. I believe they were a part of the Ruthless Aggression set. Over the past year, I received Cena, Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton figures as gifts.
Probably will never get back into collecting again, but I still have a crap ton of action figures from the early 2000's still in their cases unopened.

I love wrestling and I love toys, although I had more GI Joes, TMNT and Marvel figures as a kid than I had wrestling figures. I was only a casual wrestling figure collector until I bought a RA1 John Cena and then I was hooked.

I was born into a family that watched wrestling and my mom bought figures for my brother.
I played with his hasbros and ring and then she started buying me Jakks and I played with those until 12 or 13.
Then I stopped playing with them so I lost interest. Mattel got the license and Elite 8 Undertaker is what got me in the collecting game. 7 years later I have thousands of dollars worth in my collection.

Like everyone else I loved wrestling as a kid. I had some concert at my school and before hand we used to have to sit and wait, some kid had LJNs and I wanted them. My mom took me to KB and they had hasbros. My first two were Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels. I still do have them. Then when Jakks took over I found them in Bradlees and my mom and dad got me I wanna saw Vader and HBK for my Bday and I just kept collecting. Wrestling stayed a hobby of mine so as I grew so did my collection. I've had Jakks BCA,TTL,R3,RA, never got into DA but started Mattel and here I am. I am losing interest since now I cut back to just Legends/flashbacks. It got to be too much getting new guys with the amount they release. ONly figures I ever sold are my Mattel regular which I still regret.
