For me, I don't collect every WWE figure anymore I just collect HBK, Owen heart, Bret Hart and Old school Undertaker. The reason why I started collecting HBK figures was because I could never find a god damn HBK figure...ever. None. The only reason why I even had a HBK growing up was because a friend of mind got a BCA red variant, and he gave me his beat up old green one. Let me tell you that thing was looser than all get out but I loved it.
Fast forward to 2004 I got the WWE BRING the NOISE Shawn with the red and black zebra trunks. I was so damn excited that I almost cried. After six years of looking at retail, I filially found my most wanted WWE figure.
Is there a reason you collect or is it because you could/can?

I haven't bought a figure in years but I only wanted them because my brothers had them. My brothers used to get so annoyed because I would always want whatever they had.

So I can join a wrestling figure forum and answer this question every fortnight. Also, does anybody know how to get rid of the smoke smell of figures?

I watched wrestling on tv every Sat/Sun as a kid growing up in the 80s. So the toys only made sense to buy. LJNs, then Remcos, and so on. There was a period where I wasnt buying as many wwf toys and then Jakks brought out the Classics line and I was hooked again. It was exciting to see classic wrestlers getting new figures. With Mattel I was not interested because I had seen some proto pics that I thought looked horrible so I missed out on the Legends line and several waves of the regular elites. It wasnt till they cleared the Legends line out of stores that I picked up several of those figures for very cheap that I started buying again.

Before I knew about wrestling all I had was G.I Joe Then I saw the M$M wrestling some bum and stuffing money down his throat and at that moment I was hooked. When I saw the crowd and kids were holding there hasbro or LJN figures I had to have them. Took my G.I Joes to my mom said I dont need these I want wrestling men.

When I was a kid, my mum used to get me lots of action figures for xmas, the old Batman figures that Kenner made, around the early to mid 90s. Batman the animated series was my favourite and I used to look forward going into town with my mum and trying to find the figures I needed (could never find the riddler!). And ofcourse there was the hasbro WWF figures that I loved as a kid. Its just all good memories and nostalgia and I still love to play with the figures like I did as a kid. You should never grow up, thats when the fun stops!

That feeling when you walked through each department at a fast pace, knowing the figures were just around the corner and locating new stock! Getting a haul of Series 5 and 6 Hasbro's for Christmas will always be one of my favourite childhood memories, too.

When I was a kid, my family moved to the US and my parents needed to find something to keep me entertained on the long flight from the UK to California so they bought me a two pack of knockoff Razor Ramon and Diesel figures. I think they were made by a company called Mafex but I'm not 100% sure. Either way, my mom bought me them because I had been watching an old WWF VHS with my Uncle the previous week and she told me that they were Hulk Hogan and Big Bossman haha. When we got out there, she ended up buying me a load of WWF Titantron Live and Toybiz WCW figures along with the Smash N' Slam ring and the original Titantron Live Stage. When I came back to the UK for Christmas, my Uncle gave me all his old Hasbro figures, so I had actual figures of Hogan and Bossman to reenact that classic Steel Cage match with.
From then, my parents really wished they hadn't bought those knockoff figures because I got REALLY into wrestling and for Christmas when I was 3, I ended up getting the Backstage Mayhem playset, the WCW Monday Nitro Arena and the WWF Attitude ring along with a few TTL figures. Best Christmas ever!!! After that, I got heavily into wrestling although I stopped watching for a while in 2005 because Star Wars took over my life that year. I got back into wrestling in a big way in 2008 though.
So yeah, essentially it was a combination of me watching the Best of Hulkamania VHS with my Uncle and my mom needing a cheap toy to keep a 2 year old entertained on a 9 hour flight haha.

When I was a kid my parents got me and my brother a subscription to WWF magazine after we got into wrestling. In one of the 1st ones we got there was a Hasbro ad on the inside cover. It had Luger, Steiners, Duggan, Bret, Doink, Dibiase, Tatanka and more. I used to stare at that ad for hours wishing I had them.
Every time my mom went grocery shopping me and my brother would go to the toys. At the time we were big into Hot Wheels and we never saw any wrestling toys ever. One day we went and were so happy/surprised to see BCA Superstars Series 1. I still remember it to this day, it's one of my fondest childhood memories. We were so excited we pulled them down and started going through them to see who all was avalaible. My brother realized after looking on the back that there were 6 so we grabbed all 6 and waited for our mom to finish shopping and God bless her she told us we could each get 1 and she'd put the other 4 on Lay-A-Way.
I brought home Bret and my brother brought home Shawn. From that point on as soon as I would get home from school I would pull out my BCA collection and play until I had to go to bed at 9. On the weekends I was playing non-stop.
When Jakks switched to TTL I lost interest. I didn't like the look of the figures anymore and I was entering high school so I was kinda outgrowing them. After school and as I got older I returned to collecting Hasbros and BCA's for nostalgia purposes mainly. It wasn't until pictures were shown of Elite 28 that I got into Mattel. That Big Show headscan just blew me time and I loved the attire he was wearing at the time. So that figure got me into Mattel and I put my Hasbro and BCA collecting on hold while I got into Mattels cause it's tough on the wallet lol.
