I will say, it's because of the lack of great match ups on Prime Time that makes me appreciate RAW more than most. I used to stay up late on school night to watch a main event of Big Boss Man vs Jim Powers "just in case something happens". When today we get several competitive match ups each night. Sure it could be better, but it's far better than what we used to get when I was young.

It was the Monsoon/Heenan dynamic that made things so great.

Face it Squash matches were the big thing back in the day. Not So much anymore Especially with WCW on the Superstation TBS. I loved when the Road Warriors, Magnum TA or Nikita had them on a weekly basis. Especially the Road Warriors when they would just hit the ring and go right to work it was awesome. I do miss that.

WWE used to do squash matches with RyBack when he first debuted

Those Road Warrior squashes were literally like not even 30 seconds long lol. Good times.

Because wrestling was not overexposed in 1985- 1991 As it is now.

I just watched an episode of Prime Time showcasing a card from France in 1988. A great show full of old school wrestling matches. Also, I know you and your taste for wrestling isn't conducive to slower paced matches.

That's true, I'm just saying I've read your posts in the past and generally you prefer stuff with Showmanship and more panache. Like I'd guess you'd prefer Owen Hart vs Shawn Michaels circa 1995 as opposed to Dory Funk Jr. vs Anotonio Inoki in 1975.

PTW seems boring now but back then it was amazing because you didnt get to see your favorite wrestler every week. If Beefcake and Perfect were scheduled for a match as Mania then you'd get to see Beefcake one on PTW and once on Superstars, both times vs Jobbers. He'd then cut a couple promos and you'd be hyped out of your mind for the match with Perfect. Now days if you get Miz vs Ambrose for example, you're forced to see them fight every single week, sometimes multiple times in 1 episode. Then when they get to the PPV you've already seen what they have to offer and you just simply dont give a .

I wasn't alive in 1975 to even see Dory vs. Inoki, so I really have no interest to see it now. Anything from 1984 till now I am a fan of. Because I lived it and remember it, or if not, at least I am familiar with it.

Also Andre was way past his prime so I'll cut him some slack. They did a decent job given that Andre was leading the match. As someone who's had to lead in the ring, it's no easy task to be a ring general when your body isn't cooperating.

As a logician, I have no grasp of the rationale behind not wanting to see what is objectively an amazing demonstration of physical chess simply because you were not alive to see it. I was born in 1993 and virtually everything I enjoy is from my father's youth. Either way, you're welcome to enjoy whatever you like as we all know. As for why Prime Time Wrestling was great, it was a good place to see showcases of different wrestlers in a time when such was uncommon. For those of us who still love those wrestlers, it's a wonderful gem to see basic matches showcasing these legends and occasionally seeing lesser known names show what good working looks like.

As others have said Bobby & Gorilla made that show. I'll admit that the lesser known talent working 15 minutes doesn't really hold up wellthese days. I mainly love it for nonostalgia. I was born in 1983 so this Era was so larger than life to me at the time. I didn't get to watch prime time as much in the early years, mainly got to watch some of the PPV events,Challenge and Superstars. But I'm so happy the network came along and I can watch all these old classics.
