I just got around to watching Slamiversary, and when I saw James Mitchell, I was kind of hoping for Abyss to come back as 2002-2007 Abyss. Ever since 2008, I haven't really liked his character very much.
I kind of want a new mask (his current one looks weird) and for him to talk less, not be a total mute, but just not have as many promos, and have Mitchell talking for him.

Abyss lost something when Hogan came in, he acts odd now, not like the Abyss of old.

It was great seeing Jim Mitchell.
Sadly the Abyss of 2005-2006 (my preferred era) is long gone. They can't recapture it.

Yeah, hard to take him seriously no matter what after the Hogan obsession and then Joseph Park, and then on to being so odd with Decay, just not really a monster. Guess that comes with age.

Abyss/Parks should have disappeared for a short time after Decay split. Then come back in original form for another strong push. He really deserves better being the last man standing so to speak from the original TNA. Unless he genuinely enjoys the Parks persona... then I say THE abyss is where he can go. =]

In my opinion, Abyss is beyond repair in terms of him being "The Monster Abyss,' again. The Hogan era really hurt the character, and as soon as they had the storyline reveal that Abyss and Joseph Park were one in the same, it was the final blow. To keep a character fresh, you do need to change things up a bit, but Abyss is a prime example how change can hurt a character too.

I think the only thing could could help Abyss would be a change of scenery, but where would be go? I don't think his character would fit into ROH very well and with the Undertaker most likely never wrestling again I don't see much for him to do in WWE. He could go to Japan or Mexico I guess. The AAA fans would probably love him.

I would say AAA is the best place for him right now.

I would say AAA is the best place for him right now. Couldn't you seem him in a fued against Psycho Circus or Cibernetico? Would be good to see him vs Mesias too. Story lines abound for that one...or they can go back to the old TNA story of brothers.
