This really mind ed me lmao. I don't remember him coming back as Typhoon in 94 at all. This is after his run as the shock master.

I've got a Sunday Night Slam episode on tape from August of '94 and Typhoon is on it. He lost to Diesel in five minutes and it wasn't much of anything, but I've probably watched this one tape (which also had SummerSlam from the year before) more than any other in all my life lol. I think because of this I've never batted an eye at Typhoon in the New Generation Era, but when I think back on it now he does seem awfully out of place. Edit: It's late and I just realized you linked to the Diesel match.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Krayzie. I had forgotten about this short run, but now I remember thinking that WWF might have been formulating a Natural Disasters reunion at some point. Typhoon looked to have dropped a few pounds and he was obviously still capable of working. I'm not sure why he left, but Quake was injured during in early '94 and followed Hogan to WCW by the end of that year.

It's a shame we never got a Natural Disasters reunion in 94. One of my favorite big man teams ever.

I never understood why Typhoon never went back to WCW to team with Earthquake. I realized it would have been some corny ass team like Shark & Dolphin but hell even a team of John & Fred would have been better then 75% of the tag teams WCW had. I mean, would you rather have John & Fred vs Harlem Heat or freaking American Males?

It's strange both Earthquake and Typhoon had such short runs in 1994. I know Typhoon had replaced Earthquake on the house show loop against Yokozuna but I think he was gone shortly after the match with Diesel. I'm guessing Earthquake knew Hogan was going to WCW and would like to try and get a contract. Also strange he didn't go with Typhoon to WCW but maybe they had bigger plans for Typhoon. A friend of mine is mutual friends with Fred Ottman and I'm thinking (when my friend gets back from a family trip) to ask him about this.

Especially because it seemed like in 1994 you'd be guaranteed a fat WCW contract as long as you wrestled one match in the WWF between 1987-1993. Everybody gets a job!!!

From what I read or heard (I don't remember if it was Meltzer or Prichard podcast), Earthquake was pissed about having to job to Yokozuna consistently or something like that which led to him quitting. I think Typhoon was brought in as a bit of an emergency replacement because Quake left pretty abruptly. I could be wrong but I remember researching it because I was confused about it all too, lol.

After looking at some of results from 1994, Earthquake did get a lot of wins against Yokozuna and Bam Bam Bigelow. In his last televised match, Earthquake went over Yokozuna on the 5.16.1994 RAW. I may be misremembering, but I heard something like that somewhere. It may have been that Quake left because they were about to make him job to Yoko on house shows, etc. And maybe that's bad information. I think it was Meltzer or Prichard. Earthquake did a Q&A on another wrestling forum many years ago and he said he didn't get along with Yokozuna. So if he was supposed to job to him, I guess he didn't like it and left. Lucky for him he was friends with Hogan and got a job with wcw.
