I typically don't pay too close to the packaging because I collect loose and just toss it as soon as I open it. But I did notice on Sting's basic Network Spotlight that they mention his 2nd world title win but do not list the event he won it. I find it odd on a series called "Network Spotlight" that they don't tell you where to find it on the network. Has this always been the case? Do the elites show the event where the figure is featured from?

According to Wikipedia he won it at a house show.

So they're not really spotlighting anything on the network? Kinda like how not all Defining Moments figures are a moment that's defining.

PJThe attire for Sting, what exactly is it from? I was watching Great American Bash ‘95 and they showed a clip from Main Event that had a similar attire, but his boots were also orange and not white, he also wore the same attire as GAB ‘95 at Bash at the Beach ‘95. It appears to be from Summer 1995, but haven’t been able to see anything outside of a promo picture.

I'm pretty sure the attire is from Superbrawl 3 vs Vader in the White Castle of Fear strap match.
The world title win was on a European tour a few weeks after that show and it changed back to Vader 5-6 days later before they arrived back in the US. Noticed that when I got mine too. It's definitely not on the network and the only evidence I've ever seen of the title changes was in the WCW magazine. There was an article chronicling the tour and it had a few pics of the matches.

I have only seen pics of him in that exact attire/face paint combination in a few promo pics. I don't recall an actual match where he had that exact combination of attire/face paint When was this title in service? As that would narrow down the year...as this is the exact look. Unless I am mistaken this title was used when Flair went to the WWE in '90/91 with the big gold title. So I think it would be from around then (early 90's)

Actually the back of the package is incorrect. Sting won his second Wcw title from Lex Luger at Superbrawl 2.

I'm pretty sure the attire is from Superbrawl 3 vs Vader in the White Castle of Fear strap match. I just checked and SuperBrawl III was 1993 and in that match he wore yellow with blue accents. SuperBrawl 1995, he wore white with red accents. Uncensored 1995 he wore white with red accents (different face design). Slamboree 1995 he wore orange, with orange boots, and had no white in his face paint. Similar as Great American Bash and Bash at the Beach 1995. Fall Brawl 1995 he wore military fatigues colors. Halloween Havoc 1995 he wore a red shade with black boots. World War 3 1995 he wore white with yellow and blue. SuperBrawl 1996 Sting had brown hair. I haven’t really checked beyond this, I just happened to watch a 1995 PPV and this was shown, but it’s the closest I’ve seen.

Unless I am mistaken this title was used when Flair went to the WWE in '90/91 with the big gold title. So I think it would be from around then (early 90's) That title was made and given to Lex Luger after the whole mess, when Flair left for the WWF with the Big Gold in 91, and it was retired, when Flair beat Sting in April 94 to unify the WCW World and International titles, and the Big Gold replaced it again, as the World Title. Sting's two reigns with the belt were at the beginning of 92, from the end of February to July, and March of 93 where he only held it from the 11th to the 17th.

It's from promo photos. He wore the orange tights a number of times. Bash at the Beach 95 most notably. But that specific combo is from the world title promo photos. WWE has used the same photos in their website for years.
I have a poster of Sting in the orange with the teal jacket from when I was a kid. I got it from a book fair in like second grade. So the orange with white boots look is 91-92 if I were to guess.

I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't care if the figures attire isnt 100% accurate and directly from a specific event.
..Also I don't care if a series is "spotlighting the network" or if the figure is from a "defining moment" in wrestling, "hall of fame" or "then, or now, or forever".....just give me flashbacks as many ways as possible without creating unnecessary limitations.

Definitely not the attire he wore when he won the WCW title for the 2nd time.

Actually the back of the package is incorrect. Sting won his second Wcw title from Lex Luger at Superbrawl 2. WWE recongnizes anything after 1990 as WCW and anything prior to 1991 as NWA. So Superbrawl 2 was Sting's first WCW reign.

I really dislike when figures are made based on promo pics and not matches, but I'm just glad we got a new Sting scan that I really like. The first Surfer head was horrific imo, this is fantastic.
Here's hoping for a pink elite Surfer!

Here's hoping for a pink elite Surfer! The use of the below Savage promo pic for merchandise drives me crazy. I hate the yellow frames on the glasses and the trunks with no stars. Yes, I know he wore trunks like that but that's a horrible look for Savage merchandise imo.
