The wrestling business has a laundry list of people that were penciled in to win world titles and for one reason or another, they never held the top title. You also have guys that were incredible mid-carders that flirted with the main event scene but they never were given the big one. So in a dream situation, who would you "gift" a world title to? Would it be Lex at SummerSlam for the WWF World Title? Magnum T.A. with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship? Vader at Survivor Series? Just curious as to whom the board would pick.

May be a stretch for some and back then, it would have been too soon for Warrior to lose it, but I'd pick Rick Rude at SummerSlam and Warrior could have gotten it back at Survivor Series. However that would probably screw up Slaughters reign. I was a fan of Rude though.

MVP and or Shelton Benjamin sometime between 2009-2011 if they both stuck around.

Shelton Benjamin in 2007 instead of Great Khali
Wade Barrett in 2010-11 instead of the Miz

Lex Luger at SummerSlam 93 comes to mind.
But looking back, it's hard to say where Lex could have lost it back to Yokozuna at. I doubt Survivor Series would have worked, and Royal Rumble would be a messy situation too. If Bret vs. Yoko happened at WM X, then who does Lex face that night??
But it just seems like Lex Luger should have won the WWE Title at SummerSlam 93.

Personally, I would have given Roddy Piper the title on the MTV War to Settle the Score special before WM and then made it a one on one rematch at WM so Hogan could end the show on a high note by taking the title back from Piper. Mr. T didn't need to be in the match, he could have been a guest in Hulk's corner and helped Hogan counter interference from Orton.

I'm seeing some usual suspects here. I'm not familiar with Wade Barrett so I'll have to check him out. There are so many great choices and all of them could have historical importance. If you give Bulldog or Regal the WWF World Title then you have the first British WWF World champion. Give Vader the WWF title and he would have been the only guy to have held the WCW, All Japan, New Japan, and WWF World Titles. But I think I would actually gift Faarooq the WWF World Title in 97. The Nation was hot and the feuds it included were always to level, main event guys. This would also be the first black WWF World champion.
A lot of great options though, Owen at SummerSlam, Arn Anderson in WCW, Steamboat in WWF, Jake Roberts.

I think that Paul Orndorff should have beaten the Hulkster for the WWF World Championship; either at "The Big Event" in Toronto or that SNME where the two had their steel cage match which featured a tie/restart. That feud was white-hot at the time. Orndorff had all the tools (by 80s standards, anyway).

so many great ones already mentioned.
my no.1 pick would be Roddy Piper at RR92! never won a belt and then wins both belts in one night. that would have been too awesome!

Great thread.
Sting in 2015 ( Screw Rollins)
Vader in 1996
Ultimate Warrior in 1996 (from the guy above)

I'd go with Owen Hart at Survivor Series 94 instead if Backlund. Have Bret take the title back from Owen at the Rumble and Diesel winthe Rumble match. Setting up Bret/Diesel at Mania 11.

These are the only 2 wrestlers Ive ever considered to be missed opportunities in the Hogan era.

Vader in 96. He should've beat HBK at SSlam that year and went on to have a monster run until at least the Rumble.
