I've been catching up on Bruce Prichard's podcasts and started listening to the Montreal Screw Job episode today and he revealed something that I had never heard before, that Hollywood Hogan approached the WWF at the same time that they were negotiating to keep Bret Hart about a return. Of course this never happened, Hogan wanted too much money but what if it did happen?
I just can't really picture how Hogan would have fit in to the WWF at the end of 1997... perhaps in a feud with Vince, the star that Vince created has turned bad. An NWO knock off stable? I just can't really picture it.

He was still one of the hottest acts in wrestling.
We would've probably ended up with Hogan-Austin at WM 14

Hogan I don't think he would have fit in WWF especially in 97 I mean Hogan even as Hollywood Hogan wouldn't have fit especially given the direction the WWF was going in at that time with The Attitude Era

I think it would have worked.
Hogan would be heel and with Vince. And Vince would say, "See, Steve Austin, this is how a champion is supposed to look, act and be like." Since Hogan was Vince's puppet for close to a decade.
But because of Hogan there, guys like The Rock may not have gotten the chance to become World Champion as fast as they did.

Yeah in 2002. This is 1997 Hulk we are talking about. I don't think it would've worked. His and Austin's politics would have been a HUGE detriment.

It's actually hard to see where you would fit him On the Mania 14 card
HBK/ Austin and Kane/taker had to happen just with the way all the other pieces fell. The fans also might have acted negatively towards Hogan at the time, so he probably would be heel
He probably didn't want to jump because the money wasn't right and there was no good feud to jump into since the other main eventers were busy.

Hollywood Hogan without the NWO wouldn't have been all that entertaining. So having him come back to the WWE in '97 as Hollywood Hogan wouldn't really much. And if they had him cone back to the red/yellow like after WM18 would have only worked for about a year of that before it became stale again.
