Now when someone steals an entire figure, when or how does the store realize this and update the inventory accourdingly? Do they do inventory periodically? I ask because I'm looking for retros and check my Walmart at least 5 times a week and know exactly what they have compared to brickseek's inventory numbers. And they are short 3 figures compared to what it says they have. I'm sure they don't know and don't care, I'm just worried that this stuff could eventually cause them to not restock since the system still things they have some or a greater quantity than what's really there. At walgreens (or at least my store) we update our inventory through a telzon. If we find something stolen we scan the package and change the count.

I am betting the OP stole the figure. He's on to me! My need to show off my perfect crime was my downfall!

I'm sure they don't know and don't care, I'm just worried that this stuff could eventually cause them to not restock since the system still things they have some or a greater quantity than what's really there. I'm sure it differs depending on the store, but at the ToysRUs I'm at - a manager would have to manually update the stock in the system if something is stolen. So, another employee or someone else would have to find the empty box or whatever and then let a manager know. It definitely hurts everyone when stuff is stolen, as it usually takes longer to get new product in if the computer still thinks there's stuff on the shelves. Ideally, the stock people will adjust numbers as they go over their sections. Knowing our stock team though...I don't have a lot of faith there. Aside from stolen things, some items just get lost or misplaced, so the inventory can remain inaccurate for some time if no one's interested in the product. So, occasionally, the computer will say there is a very low number of something in the store, when in fact the item is out of stock. This is usually more common with products that ship in larger quantities, like art supplies and such, I find. Or, if something's new or in low quantities, there's the annoying chance that someone is just walking around with it in their cart. Additionally, we tend to have carts of "reshop" (stuff that is returned or left behind that needs to be put back out on the floor) sitting around that are full of stuff. It's usually random junk, but I have occasionally found the odd figure. I used to work at Meijer, which is a lot like Walmart. whenever something was destroyed or stolen, we'd put the empty package in these bins in the back. They'd go weeks without being emptied, but when they were, they were accounted for presumably for a tax write off

It's very annoying. And what poor jobs stores are doing of not noticing that right away. I know at Walmart, they have cameras at the end of a lot of isles, and this is still happening. Fortunately for me, I purchase most of my stuff from RSC.

When I see crap like that I bring it up to the front. I sometimes see people do that crapwith magic/yugioh cards, they slice the packs open and take all but the top card and leave the empty box.
(I don't play yugioh anymore but since I play MTG its in the same section.)

Fortunately for me, I purchase most of my stuff from RSC. Most stores have 'dummy' cameras that dont work. They also have high budget for theft so they dont care if they stay under target. Thats the key, they dont care. They just dont care.

I go to one Walmart to see if they have any in stock and I always find figures with the ones where the belts are missing. I take them up to someone and tell them what's wrong with it. A week later, they're back on the shelves and I just didn't even bother. I see so many figure swaps and little pieces missing from not only from the WWE Elites but from the Marvel Legends and I just don't care. I mean if Walmart doesn't care, why should I?

Reminds me of this time waaaay back when Elite 11 was out. I went to Walmart and there was a Miz that had been box cuttered out of the front window. Figure, briefcase, belt all gone. The empty box was discarded on the shelf. An employee, possibly a Christmas temp guy, walked by and picked the box up, looked right at it as he hung it back on the peg. That kind of temp help tends to weed itself out and I doubt he stayed past New Year's.
Anyway, that's the kind of employee who puts figures with stolen parts back on the shelf when it benefits Walmart and therefore all the employees to do it right and report it.

Honestly, the only place I actually see swapped figures / stolen parts I take to the front wind up back up on shelves is Walmart. Target, Walgreens, and especially Toys'R'Us all seem to actually care. Or at least my local ones do.

I sorta wish Walmart would just go out of business already. We already have a Target pretty much across the street from just about every Walmart in the area anyway. Only negative is Target's shorter business hours.
