If the Invasion angle of WWF vs Alliance (WCW/ECW) was booked properly in the sense of build-up we could have had so many dream matches especially if the big names did jump during the Invasion angle we could have had so many dream matches such as:
Austin/Hogan Rock/Sting Austin/Goldberg Taker/Goldberg Taker/Sting Flair/Austin Flair/Rock Flair/HHH Flair/Angle
Rock/DDP Austin/Nash Sting/Kane
Steiner/Rock Steiner/Austin
You name it the programs could have been there

WCW went down to WWF at the end of March 2001, so there would of been no time to put together programs and scrap everything for WM 17. So ideally they should of been kept separate for awhile. Have Shane move his WCW to Thursdays in Smackdowns slot eventually, maybe sometime after July. SummerSlam could of been the 1st Co-Branded PPV. This would be the 1st time all talents were in the same arena at the same time. Have a few verbal confrontations backstage or something. After SummerSlam have each brand invade each other slowly (example Sting drops from rafters and drops Undertaker with the death drop on an episode of Raw).
Survivor Series rolls around and there is finally a WCW vs. WWF tag match (only match between them on the card)
Booker T, DDP, Scott Hall,& Kevin Nash vs. Triple H, Chris Jericho, Kane, Mankind.
Royal Rumble each brand has 15 names and crapgets out of control. Goldberg wins the Rumble and challenges Stone Cold for the WWF Title at Wrestlemania 18.
WM 18
WWF title Match Stone Cold vs. Goldberg
WCW title match Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock
Tag Title unification
Hardy Boys vs. The Outsiders
Sting vs. Undertaker (Deadman gimmick)
Ric Flair vs. Triple H
The Steiner brothers vs. Kurt Angle & Chris Benoit
DDP, Lex Luger, Booker T vs. Edge, Christian, & Kane.
I'd have ECW debut and destroy the winner of the main event. They would start off with RVD, Tommy Dreamer, Dudleys, Taz, Raven, Shane Douglas, Sabu, & Sandman.

This actually would be a perfect way to do the Invasion but my WCW vs WWF would be 5 on 5 with it being
Team WWF: The Rock, Stone Cold, Kane, Jericho and Taker Team WCW: Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, DDP, Booker T and Flair

If they waited until 2002 to do this angle then the whole thing would've worked out in the long run. They rushed it and in turn the whole angle failed.
I personally would've started it right after WM 18 and ended it at the SSeries that year with a big WWE vs WCW showdown with McMahon and Bischoff in their respected teams corners.

Could of been the biggest show of all time. I grew up watching from 1985 on, that would of been the most epic event that could of happened in my wrestling history. Fans dreamed of NWA/WCW vs. WWF for decades.

As awesome as it would have been to see guys like Nash, Hall, Hogan, Luger, Sting, Steiner, Goldberg and such be a part of the WWE in 2001, you can't really blame them for sitting at home for two years and collecting guaranteed money from Turner still.
I do remember hearing rumours of Smackdown becoming a WCW show during that time frame. I guess Vince really waited a year later and had it be just Raw and Smackdown as two separate brands.

I wish the invasion angle was done differently. This is when I really lost interest in wrestling when it should have been the most exciting thing ever. For my whole life up until that point it had been wwf vs nwa/wcw

Yeah if I were to had booked the inVasion angle I would've held it off until Survivor Series. (Also no Austin heel turn) Where like WeWantBritishBulldogs said, have Sting drop from the rafters during a Taker match (preferably in a buried alive match) and Scorpion Death drops him signaling a WCW invasion has come. More and more WCW stars come and invade the WWF during matches and promos. Then at the Royal Rumble the nWo debuts (Hogan, Hall, and Nash) and wins the Rumble, Hogan defeats Jericho at No Way Out, and defeats the Rock at Mania X8. meanwhile down in the card Austin defeats Goldberg, Hall and Nash become new WWF Tag Team Champions, Vince and Flair have their RR '02 match here, and The Undertaker defeats Sting (10-0) Then after 6 months I would end the inVasion angle at Summerslam '02 where Austin defeats Hogan for the WWF Title and ends WCW for good. Cheers

I wish WCW would've became a proper show and through time both could've invaded each other which would've led to a huge battle.

Wasn't their a plan for a Invasion 2.0 in 2003? Mid-2002 actually. It was when they were about to bring back Vince Russo, he wanted to redo the Invasion angle and then they decided against rehiring him

A 2nd Invasion angle more understood. But not even year after fresh into brand split. That's a crapfest in the making. It should of happened in 2001 all or nothing. They got the wrong guys during the Invasion guys to switch up that was all stupid but the formula of it I actually really liked. If we just put the right guys into place it would of been great. And I still do enjoy the invasion angle to an extent.

This angle like many others will forever be discussed and ripped apart by fans. But this time I hope to get everyone in for full opinion and perspective on the angle. I am going to lay it all out and say I did like the angle, but I didn't like the people who portrayed the roles.

Merged these two together as it is the same topic. As for the Invasion it was good for what it was, but without having all of WCW's big guns it was never going to be great.

As others have stated they went to fast on the Invasion angle and really only had Booker T & DDP as true top stars for the angle, which is why so many WWF guys had to join and also ECW.If the WWF had such a hard on to do the angle super fast like they did they should have tried and bought out some of the bigger name stars that where sitting at home or worst case turn some of the the WWF guys that had strong ties to WCW like Chris Jericho & Big Show instead of guys like Austin & Angle. Also should have treated Booker T & DDP as much bigger stars and treats then the jokes they where after the first month or two.
Ideally they would have waited until '02 or '03 to do a proper invasion with the likes of Bischoff,Flair,Hogan,Goldberg,Hall,Nash,Booker T,Steiner,Mysterio...ect which would have been huge.

Honestly no Invasion angle would have worked for me. Outside of DDP, Goldberg & Sting...there really werent any true WCW guys left. Everyone had spent time in the WWF or were WWF built guys and then moved on to WCW.
The only time a true Invasion of WWF would have worked would be in the late 80s. You could have top draws like Flair, Sting, Luger, Steiners, Road Warriors, Pre Polka dot Dusty, Rock n Roll Express, Midnight Express, Arn, Tully & Windham....it would have been truly epic.
Flair vs Hogan Luger vs Warrior Sting vs Savage Road Warriors vs Demolition Steiner Bros vs Hart Foundation RnR Express vs Rockers Midnight Express vs Strike Force Dusty Rhodes vs Ted DiBiase (which we got) Arn & Tully vs Bulldogs
