So I vowed that I wouldn't pick this up because I didn't appreciate the low ropes and plastic molded turnbuckles. But when I saw this sitting on a TRU shelf for the low low low low low price of $99.99 (sarcasm), I just couldn't resist because I wanted to be wrong about this ring plus the Goldberg. I wanted it to be awesome, but unfortunately I was right. Let's get to the review. So I'm going to say this right off the bat, this was the longest I took to build a wrestling figure ring. The fact that the frame comes in four parts instead of 2 is quite annoying. Not all of the grooves fit correctly and once they are all in place they sit uneven, especially when the ropes are together, it yanks the pieces of the frame and makes the ring lop-sided. I quite like the scale of the ring, it would have been perfect if they didn't use basic ring turnbuckles and actually had posts and ropes that sat higher to scale. But to me, the light-effects are really cool, but isn't worth the purchase. This ring is okay, but not better than the ASR by any means. Overall: 7/10 I also wanted to point out that my announce table has warped pieces and doesn't click in on the side correctly. It's disappointing because I have two mattel announce tables and both are warped. So be prepared if yours is messed up as well. Now this Goldberg is really really nice, I didn't like the initial pics I first saw, but in hand it is spot on. The height, the scale, and even the attire are perfect even though they are simple. I think they did a little too much with the beard as its a bit too bushie, and the face is a little too long, but boy this is a hell of a release that I'm sure everyone will want. I recommend this figure, but not the ring. Until the flashback Goldberg gets released and we see how it looks, this might be the best Goldberg figure I've ever seen, it's just a shame mattel is having us pay $100 for this ring when we mostly just want the Goldberg as a solo release. Overall: 9/10

Pass, I don't want the ring. It cost too much and not liking the goldberg headscan either.

Ugh, if only these ropes were the right height, I would for sure already own it. Maybe I'll sit on it for a few months, see how it is during Black Friday

Thanks for the review.
I'm definitely passing on it -- the rope height is the biggest killer for me. Literally everything else I can forgive, just not that for something I'm playing with. Moves like baseball slides seem like they're impossible here. Same with run ins lol.
I liked the scale from the photos, too, just really wish Mattel didn't cheap out on things. Now they're gonna sit on these and say high end rings don't sell. Whatever. Don't really care for that Goldberg either. I understand the appeal, but not worth $99.
Like I said in the other post, I just hope Wicked Cool Toys has some kind of plan to modernized the ASR for those who own it already. I plan on keeping mine for awhile.

Ugh, I really want that Goldberg but I just can't justify paying for a ring I have no interest in.

Goldberg was/is one of my main wants - but I've gotta say I'm pretty disappointed in this figure... the scan is good, but the (crazy!) length and color of the beard really lets it down, IMO.

Maybe someday they'll release Hollywood Hogan with a $200 ring!
I know, I know, don't give Bill any ideas...

So torn on this. I really really like the scale of the ring, it's the closest to accurate we've gotten and that's a big deal to me but parts of it definitely seem cheaper and less detailed than the ASR (the turnbuckle detail and post height being the most glaring examples). Haven't seen it at retail yet but still on the fence ..... knowing how much I enjoy buying rings I'll prob buy it haha

Like I said in the other post, I just hope Wicked Cool Toys has some kind of plan to modernized the ASR for those who own it already. I plan on keeping mine for awhile. That's my fear: tgat this won't sell as well as they hoped and they'll say elite rings don't sell. Which I'm sure it would sell great if they had better turnbuckles and more accurate scale and not so absurdly expensive (premium price for less than premium ring? WTF?). Or equally bad is it does sell well and they keep churning out incorrectly scaled rings and never fix it. WCT could create new posts that are shaped like the oversized current one that snaps into place, but has an enlongated bottom that covers the black part of the base. And a clear plastic cover that slides over the apron giving it an illusion of being an LED board. Just a simple idea off the top of my head.

I saved rewards and had a coupon. Picked up the set for $66 and sold the ring. Def not worth $100 price point. Goldberg is nice but I had to pass on a few due to bad paint apps on Goldberg. I feel like mattels quality is just not what it used to be.

Is the head molded in skin tone or grey?

I think the only thing I like about this ring is the size. For the price tag it should have removable turnbuckles, accurate sized ringposts and not a solid piece ringstep. It's literally a step back in that aspect. In terms of the Goldberg, I see the likeness from the front view. However, the overly bushy goatee kills it for me and the cranium looks like an ape's head from the side view. A little gloss on the boots would of also made this figure pop too. I'm hoping that when they do release a fb Goldberg they go all out on it. A new headscan (I still believe jakks has the best one so far), a new torso with bigger traps, they could reuse the legs on this one (or just make a brand new body mold since Goldberg's attire is simplistic) and last but not least gloss his boots. Also, has anyone repainted this head and tried to make him younger (brown goatee and eyebrows)?

The scale of the ring is more accurate then wicked cool toys which is just way too big.
Not having flexibility in changing brand and Limiting to only a RAW ring kinda sucks but I could get past it. However, The rope height is really the deal breaker. So close, Mattel.

I love this ring. Way better than the ASR. Scale is much better and it's so much more sturdy. The rope height doesn't bother me at all and all my grooves fit in perfectly.

I'm sticking with the original Mattel ESR. I've updated it with WWE Network turnbuckle pads, and RAW WWE Network ring apron.
I can't pay $100 for a ring that has spring ring ring posts that the ropes barely reach the medium sized wrestlers waist. On taller figures like Nash and Undertaker, doesn't even reach their waist.
I'm hedging my bets that in 2018 we get better Goldberg figures that I can buy individually.
