I feel pretty confident is saying Davey Boy was not on the cutting edge of fashion. He's made some questionable offenses over the year. God dammit, why didn't you tell me? I have been dressing like him since age 5! You mean these dreads with colorful beads in them aren't cool?! God dammit. They're cool if you think they are, friend.

Davey Boy is my fave wrestler and I hated the jeans and the run in general as it was obvious that he wasn't the performer he once was, the jeans were forced in order to fit in with the era and he just didn't suit the era generally. His promo with Triple H where he kept calling him Game Boy, you could tell he was trying too hard. Just seemed a slight tarnish. I prefer to remember him for his '91/'92 WWF run.

Believe me or not, my friend trained in Calgary at the dungeon the Summer of 2000. Davey Boy was home a lot during that time and told him that Vince himself wanted Davey to wear jeans and workboots. Made no sense imo. Not only did he have huge back issues at the time but I'm sure Vince was holding a grudge from when Davey left after the screwjob. I doubt Vince would hold a grudge, it's bad for business. As for the Jeans, I would imagine it would be really uncomfortable wearing jeans in a wrestling match, especially Levi's they tend to be bit tight. . I've often wondered how guys who regularly compete in jeans feel about them. Regular cut jeans seem to be too binding for comfort, while a relaxed/loose cut would slide around once the wrestler began to perspire. As for Davey, he'll always hold a special place in my wrestling memories. Bulldog-Bret is still one of the top 5 matches that I've ever seen. His Euro title match with HBK was also one of the best examples of crowd heat in wrestling history. Yet I think part of his success in the Family Entertainment/Golden Age era is the reason why he struggled to transition. Davey was a natural babyface. Regardless of his tights or haircut, he gave off the same clean, wholesome vibe. He also wasn't known as a strong mic guy, which is why I think guys like Owen and Cornette were kept around him in '95. When the zeitgeist of the Attitude Era emerged, no one in the WWF (or WCW for that matter) knew what to do with a guy who was a natural hero character in an age of anti-heroes and ruthless villains. Plus, it's been well documented that as the 90s progressed, so to did his painkiller abuse. It's difficult to believe that the larger-than-life titan of 1992 would be dead a mere decade later.

I actually liked the jeans look and his new theme. His previous look and theme just wouldn't have fit in 1999.
Considering Bulldog's backstage reputation, Bulldog would've actually fit in well in 1999 had they incorporated it into his character. But he was plagued with his demons and injuries, so he wasn't destined to make it in the Attitude Era unfortunately.
