I remember watching wrestling with my grandfather a few years before he passed, and he always commented on how they use these big, bulky, intricate stages. (It made me wonder what he would’ve thought about the led rings now lol) It made me think, what’s the point really? Yea sure it has a wow factor to it, and the entrance graphics are also unique for every superstar, but do you think we could do without? I imagine it could add a huge chunk to the budget if they used just a simple set up. Think of the Beast In The East PPV, that stage was simple, but yet it was cool and it got the job done. I also think it could help get more ticket sales, but I doubt they would sell out anyway with the way it is now a days. What’s is your opinion on this?

I can't stand the LED crap sets they use today. I miss the days when sets were simple like this...

The old WCW ramp in the early 90s was freaking awesome! It just made the event have a big time feel to it for some reason. You don't get that same feeling anymore when watching current wrestling.

I'd personally prefer to have something much more simple, like the original block letter RAW set. And the oval or fist SD sets. And having specific sets back for each PPV.
But, y'know, it's 2017 and it's WWE... so everything has to be super polished, bright, and shiny.

Well said. It's too over produced and gaudy now. I get this is the HD era blah blah but I prefer simple and effective

Yes, they are necessary in my opinion. But then again, I also think pyro is necessary, but clearly WWE doesn't agree.
Entrance stages just add to the presentation. Having just a black curtain back again would just make the whole set look dull.
I do wish they've come up with unique stages for each PPV again though. Reusing the exact same set is just so uninspired and monotonous.

All we need is something simple to make each show stand out. Scaffolding for Raw and metallic panels for Smackdown is all that's needed IMO.

If it were up to me, I'd stick with the old entrance ways they used to have at the old MSG.
The one at Survivor Series 2002 was perfect.

I hope you realize they got rid of the old entrance way at Madison Square Garden. When they do shows at The Garden, it uses a typical house show setup. Given how arenas are built in the United States, everything has to be placed at one end of a given arena.

I never understood the appeal for a large expensive PPV set. It's used once and then boxed up in a warehouse just in case they can re-purpose it eventually. Save that money and use it elsewhere.
And I know old school fans may dislike the LED set up now. But I personally think it's cool. It's given the WWE a modern & fresh feel rather than feeling outdated and behind the times.

Definitely agree with your point about the current day set up. That's one thing that separates WWE from any other wrestling promotion, their presentation. I feel the LED set up makes the show feel big.

I like both. I like the feel of old school, but the new is awesome too. Jindar Mahal has one of the coolest entrances today with the red carpet roll out ect. His works, however some of the dudes just have to much going on. TJ Perkins entrance I always feel like I am about to have a seizure with his 8bit music and all the crap going on on his led entrance. Some guys should just come out. Kevin Owens should be a guy who just walks out and down the ramp old school, no lights music ect.

A gigantic set for Mania seems appropriate, but I would love to see them go back to simpler sets with more structural aesthetics rather than led lights everywhere for regular shows. I mean in the last few years everything has taken on led lighting — The ring apron, the ring posts, the ramp, the banners around the arena, even the announcers desk if you're counting the WWE Network one. Soon the ring steps and the ringside mats are gonna be LED plastered and the whole thing is gonna look like a 10 year old made create an arena from WWE 2K.
I mean at least Raw and Smackdown have somewhat different sets but it still has that same overall graphics blinding feel. Every show just feels the same and as someone said above feels uninspired and not unique in the slightest.

I strongly disagree with you, that ramp is hideous and takes away a lot move sets from wrestlers. TNA used a similar ramp, because of Hogan and it sucked.

They are necessary if you have a product that is entertainment heavy. It's all about presentation and entertainment. I personally like the old 90s ramp of WCW and the neon WWF entrance.

I personally love the new Raw and SD sets that they've used since Summerslam last year. Aesthetics are important to me. Which is why I'm so glad they brought back red and blue ropes. I hated the white ropes and the pre brand split stage.
