definitely 1993 - great booking, great execution (except for the Hogan Yoko match) I also liked the Austin show in 96 and obviously the Cell match in 98 was memorable.

I don't like 3 man announce teams but I gotta say I enjoyed the team of J.R.,Savage and Heenan.

I agree about 3 man teams. It worked well with the 3 of them but you could put anyone with bobby and jim.... Well except Art Donovan lol

1993 was absolutely amazing! Just a perfect tournament and the other matches on the show were fun too.
1994 would be great if the commentary wasn't so bad. That football player dude, whoever the hell he was, he made it unbearable.
1995 would have been great if Shawn Michaels won the KOTR tournament that year and not Mabel.
1996 was awesome. That was a fun PPV for matches and the birth of Austin 3:16.
1997 was also pretty decent. Triple H vs. Mankind feud started that night, and we got a fun HBK vs. Austin match.
1998 is only loved pretty much because of Taker vs. Mankind in the HIAC match. Though the other matches are fun on the show too.
1999 went back to having a 8 person tournament that night, but what should have been a big deal for Billy Gunn to win it, ended up being a let down. From what I heard, X-Pac was originally scheduled to win that KOTR, but they went with Billy Gunn instead.
2000 was okay. The tournament had a lot of great wrestlers in it. The other matches as well were good.
2001 was a solid PPV! Austin vs. Jericho vs. Benoit, Shane vs. Kurt, Kurt vs. Edge in the KOTR finals, just a lot of memorable stuff in that one.
2002 was alright. I know it was all about Lesnar in that one. But the magic seemed to be gone that year for the KOTR fun.

I dare anybody to say 1995. Go ahead. Try it...
The inaugural event from 1993 is probably my all-time favorite. I rented that video enough times as a kid to wear out the tracking on the tape.
Bret Hart gets unanimous MVP honors. Three excellent, also very different, matches against three different opponents. That semi-finals classic with Mr. Perfect tops their 1991 Summerslam title match in my opinion. Great story leading into it as well. Two of the best ever in that ring.
As a kid, Yokozuna beating Hogan for the title was upsetting. The exploding camera and post-match beating was pretty intense for the time being so young. Knowing now the politics going on behind the scenes with Hogan/Bret/Vince, that finish is so damn weak and a cheap way to drop the belt on your way out.
Lex Luger versus Tatanka sounded like a huge match heading into the PPV with both guys being undefeated and me being a HUGE Tatanka fan. It ended in a time limit draw which was kind of lame, but understandable to keep both guys looking strong and stack the odds even higher against Bret who played that underdog role beautifully in the finals. Funny to think in only a few weeks Luger would be on a bus tour as a patriotic babyface. I figured the Narcissist character would make a good heel challenger for the belt that year. Turns out the King of the Ring was pretty much the end of the road with that project.
HBK/Crush was an interesting matchup. I'm a big fan of the original Doink of course, but that feud with Crush was embarrassingly lopsided. Doink won the big encounters and always made Crush look like a big dummy. No difference here. He lost when two Doinks came down to ringside and distracted him. Add another gimmick farewell to this show. They did the injury angle against Yokozuna a few weeks later and Kona Crush was gone forever. Braddah!
Jerry Lawler attacking Bret at the coronation ceremony was great heat and set the foundation for one of the most underappreciated rivalries of that era. The entire PPV was a roller coaster for both sides. The good guys had their moments, the bad guys had theirs. Nostalgia always helps, but this was an enjoyable, balanced show all-around.

If we are talking about the PPVs, 1998 all the way for me.
If we are talking about the actual Tournaments, I always had a soft spot for 2008's One night version on RAW for some reason. I actually haven't watched it since, but I remember really liking it and was super cool with Regal winning it. It's a real shame he got a Wellness Violation and his push derailed.

The first few years were my favorite. Even though KOTR seemed to be an afterthought PPV (especially as years went by without full tournament), it always seemed to be memorable enough and had some good showcase matches. Honestly, as a Baltimore resident and having had multiple experiences with Art Donovan, I have to say 1994 is my favorite and most enjoyable due to the commentary.

I would probably have to say '93 and '94 but honestly I would love to see some of the earlier KOTR that were done at house shows.
