Poor Howard, Im listening to a shoot interview with Percy Pringle telling how badly Howard was bullied by other wrestlers in the business. Percy tells how he himself was the butt of plenty of jokes but atleast he had the Undertaker looking out for him, Percy would go on to tell how he would find Howard crying because he was tortured so much. I never knew this, sad to hear.

That's unfortunate but ribbing/bullying was a big thing especially in those days. The Fink should take great pride in the fact he is the greatest wrestling ring announcer ever. IMO nobody will ever touch him in that regard.

I think it was mentioned during Legends House, because I knew this and I never really watched shoots or listen to podcasts. So I am pretty sure that is where I heard about it.

Never heard these stories but I don't doubt it. Being on the road 300+ days a year, guys get bored and entertain themselves somehow. Usually at someone else's expense. I wonder how much of the stuff guys got away with then would fly now

its pretty much how things were back then. Hell look what JBL did to people when he was given chance All the more impressive he stuck it out and will now be remembered as much as if not more than some of the culprites

The sad thing is that if you sell the ribbing, the jokes, the pranks, it makes you an easy target for it to continue to happen. I am guessing the boys saw how easily it was to get under Howard's skin so they kept it up.
I do know on Legend's House, Howard talked about how he was teased when he was younger, but maybe it meant it as early on in his WWE run, I am not sure.

I love a good rib...I think ribs are essential in helping people bond....I hate the fact that we've become so soft that a rib is now considered bullying though. My teammates and I use to do stuff to each other all the time and I loved it then and look back and still love it now. If you did some of the things we did now though you'd be kicked off the team or even expelled from school.

Difference between good fun good natured ribbing in outright nasty bullying like JBL The shower rapist. Its disgusting you have no sympathy for bullied victims.

There are ribs, like "Ha ha. We switched his shoes to a pair that's one size smaller".
But then there is hazing/bullying that take it way too far. And in wrestling, if the victim puts up a fight or speaks out on it, guess what? He's either out of a job or gets put into horrible story line. I personally know of someone that this happened to on a college football team.
But it's all in good fun, right?
In any event, I'm happy for Howard to have had a 30+ year career with the WWE.

On one of the early episodes of Raw from 1993, Mr. Perfect and HBK got in a brawl outside of the Manhattan Center. They fought in the streets and it ended with Perfect throwing Shawn onto a car smashing the windshield. Turned out it was Howard's car and both guys were in on it as a rib. I heard Howard was a good sport saying something like "whatever is good for business" and that Vince got him a new car afterwards. They just wanted to see him squirm for a while.
And ribbing most definitely isn't always cruel. Owen Hart was the biggest ribber of them all back in the day. Everyone has heard the stories. They were good-natured and harmless.

Funnily enough, I'm quite good at naming which state a city is in, in America - for someone from the UK anyway, and the way I remember or work them out is by imagining Howard Finkel calling a place. "Which state is Chicago in?" *Finkel's voice in my head "From Chicago, ILLINOIS..."* "Illinois!"

That guy is the ultimate ring announcer IMO. He still has a place on the show. He blows anyone else so far out of the water they'd need a parachute to make a safe landing.

Though ribbing can go too far at times.... especially when it involves Mr. Fuji taking a friend's dog and killing it and serving it for dinner to that friend.

It's been mentioned before in shoot interviews that Mr. Fuji had a falling out with a friend, so he somehow got his friend's dog, killed it, cooked it, invited the friend over for dinner and served the dog to him. That's where they got the story line for Bossman and Al Snow with "Pepper" the dog.
