I am looking to downsize a large part of my collection just out of lack of interest, the economy around my area is very weak so I couldn’t sell them locally, I was hoping to sell them on eBay but have been scared about getting ripped off. Have any of you guys had any experience selling figures on eBay? And would you recommend it? Thanks for any insight.

Try here first. Ebays fees are ridiculous, then add that to the small fee PayPal takes and you end up losing a bit of money. Not to mention that eBay doesn't take it's share of money immediately, but rather waits till the end of the month then will bill you a sellers fee, so if you are tight in money you'll have to remember to save whatever amount you have to pay back to eBay. I believe it's like 10% of total earnings. and after selling through them once I never will again. Not to mention, the buyers in eBay are well protected, sellers not so much.

Years ago, when my kid had only a dozen or so elites, he lost interest so I sold off an All-Stars CM Punk and SCSA, the first Batista, a JAKKS real scan Chris Benoit, and a few others. I made quite a bit of cash off of those figures. And I did it quick, too.

Obviously if you don't want to deal with fees I'd say sell here, I've sold on facebook and instagram as well as ebay.

There's really no good way to downsize or sell off a collection unless you're fully aware that you're gonna be on the losing end and are okay with it. I would honestly recommend eBay even though you will be paying fee's you will get a lot more traffic and there's much less of a hassle if you do everything correctly (package well, ship in a timely manner with tracking/insurance & items match description.) Just factor in the fee's into your listing if you're having a fixed price. Although the classifieds on here are great for trading you will find it's tough to sell, especially a whole collection. Most people are not willing to pay even retail for some of the most sought after figures or factor in shipping costs when making you an offer (if you can even get someone to throw you an offer otherwise they'll likely not even respond if you ask them to make one) That's the main reason I've held on to the majority of my collection for so long. I stopped collecting around late 2015 - early 2016 but I still have them in storage as I can't be bothered to go through all the work to just try to barely break even if that.

I'm currently selling off all my old Jakks Classic Superstars and some Mattels that I no longer want. I've sold most of them, and for decent money. The fees ebay charge do suck so just factor that into your price like someone else said. I was lucky enough also, to find someone quite locally on ebay who bought a bunch of figures from me in person thus negating ebay and PayPal fees and saving the hassle of packing and posting. I haven't managed to sell anything through the classifieds on here. The only problem is I've spent most of the money I've made on more figures!

If you're selling, be prepared to make only 50% back of what you spent. And that's being optimistic.

Another option is to check the Figure Findings board. It’s broken down by state. You may be able to find someone locally to buy them off you. Would help save on shipping.

A lot of the things people said here is true. I want to try eBay myself because I just want to get rid of 90% of my collection, but I'm worried about the amount I'll owe to PayPal etc. Over here I've sold some figures, but it's incredibly hard when people constantly lowball you or go back and forth only for them not to want anything. I cover shipping which is a good way to move products. I'm considering selling in lots, so that might work out for you. On the other hand there are some people here who are serious buyers as well.

I sell in lots all the time and just get a few bucks in return.
If you have rare pieces, sell them separately and then just take a loss on lots.

I have downsized quite a bit, mostly through eBay. I made some money on some figs, broke even alot and took a loss sometimes. I look at it as I had some fun with the stuff and it was never about making money to begin with, so I don't sweat that. EBay fees do suck but it does put your stuff in front of the most possible eyes. People will try to low-ball you there, just like they will on the classifieds here. I have had mostly great experiences with the classifieds here, but I did get ripped off once and that soured me a little. Good luck bro.

EBay is good for a quick buck but you will not make back what you spent. Most people looking to buy seem to want everything for 50% of what things are actually worth and want free postage in top. Something worth £50? Expect about £25 then about £15 after fees and postage. Better off selling on here as others have said.

I recently sold some figures at a local Collectors Convention in my town and i did surprisingly better than I anticipated
Now i have almost 40 more elites i am currently trying to sell. Ive tried locally through phone apps and have gotten lucky a few times but its not exactly a booming business. i have not tried ebay yet.

Ive had mixed results
There are transactions where you will be losing money, especially if you are selling one figure at a time. You will most likely have to sell in lots, mixing shelfwarmers with sought after figures. On the other hand, I have also picked up older figures at a flea market for $1 and then ended up selling them on ebay for $20+.

To me I don’t see it as a financial gain. When you put it up for 20$ ebay/pay pal take couple dollars each and the 3$ to ship one figure. And then you get the monthly seller fees it all adds up. Now to just sell off a couple is worth it.
