Sunday Night Slam shows happened like a week before a PPV was set to take place.
I wouldn't say it was a predecessor to Heat. Just a special on USA network that had matches to hype the PPV the following week.

What years did that take place? I don't remember it at all.

I remember the show. I enjoyed them and the luger tatanka cage match sticks out in my mind for some reason when i think of it. Simple effective hype rather than the current overkill - go home pre ppv shows, pre ppv talk shows, pre show matches and wrap up show

I got the few episodes of this show in my library. The show overall was fun and built the ppv way better than today.

I enjoyed those pre-PPV shows. It was like getting a free PPV. Maybe not as long or good with main event and title matches like Clash but they were solid for the time and some stood out. I remember the pre-Summerslam 93 and 94 shows and the pre-Survivor Series 1993.
