Anyone have this and have a review? I just ordered it on a whim and was wondering how good it is? I will probably be using it for The cartridge part in playing old games. How is it overall?

It's the one made by Atgames, right? They've been making these for years and are just only advertising their latest one because of the NES and SNES Classics' popularity. They have them for Atari too.
As for how they are...I have one from a couple of years ago. Emulation of the games is decent, but not perfect. The sound quality is horrendous, though, I've heard these problems have been reversed for the latest release and that the sound is better but the emulation is questionable.
The wireless controllers it comes with suck. If they're not pointed square at the machine they'll have connection issues. Fortunately you can plug in actual Genesis controllers into it if you have them.
The amount of games it advertises is misleading. Half of them are actual Genesis games, the other half are homebrew, shoddy arcade-like games. And this is a personal one but they couldn't figure out how to make the lock-on technology work so Sonic 3 and Sonic & knuckles can't be played together.
Basically, it works, but it's not going to take you back to your childhood like the NES and SNES Classic do. I use mine only really for its portability. It's great to bring along on a roadtrip.

I've heard nothing but bad things about everything At Games makes. It's too bad. Sega deserves better.

A bit of an update now that this has been out for a while and I've actually gotten a chance to get some extended playtime with one:
The controllers still suck. They're better now but still disconnect too much to warrant using them. I'm glad I still have my original Genesis controllers for that. The actual game and sound emulation is...decent. Being able to use original Genesis games and controllers is always a massive plus. It's easily the best that ATGames has put out which isn't saying too much, but it's not entirely a waste of money like the older models were.

I sold it for purchase price in a FB buy/sell group.

I would get this or a Retron5 over the emulator console. Yeah, this'll definitely be the way to go. I'm surprised that Sonic 3 & Knuckles was left out though. That's the only glaring omission I can see. Online multiplayer is really what's selling this for me. Would be great to team up and run through some Gunstar Heroes or Streets of Rage.

I've never read a positive review of the product either Apparently there's a newer model out that's slightly improved. The problem is they didn't change the design so it's virtually impossible to tell which model is which. I normally don't advise getting a bootleg product but if you want Sega games you're gonna have to get a Raspberry Pi console. Or one of those multiconsole things that plays Genesis and NES games then hit up eBay and load up on cartridges.

I used to but from Lik Sang but after Sony sued them out of business I haven't bought any games online, with the exception of one Game Stop online order.

I have the one that came with the first 3 Mortal Kombats. It's decent. You are spending it basically to play Sonic which it leaves off Sonic and Knuckles which is just upsetting. If you get the Mortal Kombat one it's a better deal as you get 3 more pretty good games. It only has a few top game titles the rest on there are just random games I don't remember or probably never existed. You might find a few hidden gems, but you buy it for the main title games. I would get the Sonic Collection on PS3/360 where it game with all the Sonic games plus many more games. Not sure how the new one is as it leaves off one of the main Sonic Games and has many of the same games as this Sega Classic. Hopefully it is better quality but I wouldn't be sure as some of those classic games you recognize the flaws converting in the controls. Sega Classic does come with 2 controllers that are made like the Sega Genesis 3rd Model. As for it playing old games. Good luck. If you had 20 games you might come across one that will read and be supported by it. I think you can find a list, but it's not set in stone as people have to actually test this. You are better off just trying it out. If it doesn't work to your liking just return it.

Just for the record, you can download Retroarch and play Sega games on the SNES Classic. I have a bunch of NES and Sega games added through the Retroarch cores. Punisher, Hulk, and X-Men 2 were some of my very favorite games growing up. So I had to get those on there. They play perfectly. I also added Altered Beast, Golden Axe 1-3, Streets of Rage 1-3, Sonic 1-4, Aladdin, Jurassic Park and WrestleMania the Arcade Game, because I couldn't get the SNES rom to work on the Classic. So make sure you're taking advantage of the space if you have one.

Get the upcoming Mega Drive mini: Article from Verge: www.theverge.com/2018/4/14/17238144/sega-mega-drive-mini-anniversary-nintendo-switchSega is getting in on the nostalgic, miniature console trend. Yesterday at Sega Fes 2018, It announced that it will release the the Mega Drive Mini, a miniature version of the Mega Drive, sometime in 2018. The company also announced that it would be bringing a number of classic games to the Nintendo Switch this summer. Sega says that the tentatively-named Mega Drive Mini is being released in conjunction with the console’s 30th anniversary, and that it will carry a number of classic games. The company has dabbled with retro hardware before: it has licensed its name to hardware company AtGames (which has also done retro Atari consoles) to produce Genesis clones, including the Sega Genesis Flashback that Polygon wasn’t a huge fan of. On Facebook, AtGames revealed that the forthcoming Mega Drive Mini will be powered by its hardware. The device looks like it’s following in the same vein as Ninendo’s wildly popular NES Classic and SNES Classic devices, which allowed gamers to play a variety of pre-loaded games. The game will be available in Japan, at least to start, according to Polygon. There’s no word on what games will be available for the device. Sega released the original Mega Drive in Japan on October 29th, 1988, and in North America on August 14th, 1989, ultimately selling more than 30 million devices worldwide. The company also recently licensed out a selection of its classic games for iOS and Android phones. Switch owners will now be able to play as well: Sega also announced that at least 15 games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, and Thunder Force 4, will be released later this summer. Can’t wait for the mini CD and mini 32X attachments

Thank the lord. If this has the same technical capabilities as the NES and SNES, my dream of having the three mini-consoles loaded with every game I ever wanted from back then will be complete. Hoping this leads to a proper Genesis console release for us.

It's really sad that this is the first thing that has got me hyped about the Switch since its initial release.
