wrestling itself is just not ergonomic. the fact that adults do that willingly to their bodies, when viewed in that context, is bizarre.

Can't be much worse than what a construction worker or roofer goes through in a lifetime. I think WWE demands abit too much of their workers, but the regular indie worker puts their body on the line way more for much less. Wrestling is for people who don't know what to do with themselves. It's like a classier stripper gig.

Multiple wrestlers even compared taking a bump to a mini car crash. The human body was not built for this. Ever heard of construction workers getting concussions?

The study didn't really touch on the in ring abuse.
Conclusion from the study:
Professional wrestlers are more likely to die prematurely from cardiovascular disease compared to the general population and morbidly obese wrestlers are especially at risk.
"While most professional wrestlers have an exaggerated muscular physique, many are visibly obese with truncal obesity suggesting the presence of the metabolic syndrome (pre-diabetes) and some are morbidly obese [5], [6]. There is a consistent relationship between obesity defined by the body mass index (BMI), visceral fat represented by waist, diabetes, hypertension, coronary disease, stroke, as well as premature death [7]–[9]. Can't be much worse than what a construction worker or roofer goes through in a lifetime. It's far worse. I'm not an expert on those two types of jobs, but I'm assuming that most of them have at least a loosely set schedule and regular off days. The constant travel, and the many pitfalls that come with it, is something that has been overlooked by the media (it's not quite as shocking as steroids or other drugs), but wrestlers talk about it all the time. A construction worker may indeed work a hard 8-10 hours, but at least he or she can go home to balanced meal and a good night's sleep. That's invaluable to long-term health.
