As I said in my previous thread, I just started collecting. I got a run on some nice figures at great prices, all MOC, picking them up this weekend. Looking at most of the other threads, it looks like everyone is taking their figures out of the package. I prefer to have them in the package, but the kid inside of me wants to take them out. Is it all just personal preference? I feel like a hypocrite because my wife started collecting Pops and refuses to remove them from the box, and I've gave her so much crap over it! Now I really don't want to remove any of my wrestling figures from their packaging, and she's returning the favor. I'm not collecting to sell them all down the road, but I also prefer something holds it's value...

I open the Elites since literally the ONLY thing keeping them being "sealed" is 1 piece if scotch tape. I also don't have the room and dislike the modern packages. I've kept only 5 sealed because I like the look.
Open some, keep some closed? See how you feel then? Or crack them all open DO IT YOLO!

I have always been a loose collector but this past year that has somewhat changed. Any Triple H & HBK I now buy two; one to open one to keep MOC. I have went back and bought a few of the older elites MOC but it can be quite frustrating. Trying to find a box that is "goldilocks" can be pretty difficult.

Even when I was a little kid collecting Jakks, I would keep everything in the package. I don't know why I do it. But I do open SOME up. But I just recently got back into collecting again in May.  But then I'll do stupid stuff like this! I know it looks shitty compared to most peoples set ups, but I don't care.  So I'm just saying, not everyone on the forum opens a majority of their figures! Just do whatever you would enjoy the best, man. It's your money and your collection. |

Thanks. I just use these cheap ass spice racks from walmart that are around $4.00 a piece. However, they're wired so I just cut black card stock (65lb weight) also from walmart so that they stand up. You can fit 9 on each rack.

It's personal preference. I have always taken mine out of the package, because when I was kid I played with them and now I pose them (shameless plug for my blog - link in my signature :-)).

Right now I am buying a lot of figures, a bunch MoC. Then I want to open them all at once, lol. I think I will keep the empty Elite boxes stored away though, maybe.

I keep mine in the box as does my friend who recently started collecting. I have no intention of ever selling them and have thought of taking them out to display them and save space. My main worry if I take them out is that the kid in me will end up playing with them and damaging them.
