Is Meltzer the most reliable source for wrestling news and rumors?
If so, why? And if no, why not?
Quite a few internet commenters seem to take his word as scripture and I'm wondering why that is. Are there other sources generally considered to be just as reliable as Meltzer?
Also if it's true that vince has lost Faith in Balor will HHH stop Finn from being released

Hating on Meltzer seems to be the popular thing to do these days but in my opinion he's a really great journalist. Given the nature of pro wrestling and how quickly things change he's not always 100 percent correct but he's very good and his analysis in my opinion is generally spot on. I subscribe to his newsletter and recommend it to all wrestling fans. He's been doing it longer than anyone and is kind of the godfather of quality wrestling journalism.
Ryan Satin is a newer wrestling journalist who breaks quite a few stories on his own. From what I've seen he's pretty accurate when he breaks stuff (he comes from the TMZ background, which believe it or not is based on pretty solid reporting/fact-checking).
I'm a journalist, BTW, if that means anything (sports, not wrestling).

The most reliable? Hard to say. Mike Johnson of PWInsider is also quite reliable. James McKenna of ProWrestlingSheet, who was supposedly FalconArrow on Wreddit, also seems to be very reliable. However, he is very reliable.
He's been covering the wrestling business for around 30 years, and has been fed information by Vince himself, and has many very legitimate sources. I don't know why so many people act like he's just another blathering idiot like the rest of us, pulling stuff out of his ass. Is his news always spot-on? No. But crap changes within WWE on a daily basis, with WWE themselves likely floating misinformation as well.

His is the most reliable, but him Hearing stories of how he gets info in cringy at times. He’s also made a crap ton of money off marks since the 80s he gets good info and is dead on sometimes. Other times, his predictioning is like shooting fish in a barrel. Saying “cm punk may or may not be returning in Chicago” Then when he doesn’t return “ as I predicted, punk did not return” Wwe seem to be getting smart to it all and seem to be using using to sheets to further storylines

It's hard to be entirely reliable in the wrestling industry, especially WWE. Things change so quickly that there are dozens of occasions where Meltzer or someone else might have been right at one point, but then plans change and suddenly people around here at chastising him for it.
I find that most of the pro journalists (Meltzer, Keller, Powell, Johnson, etc.) are as accurate as they can be. Keller has shifted mostly to analysis rather than breaking stories, but regardless. I don't think any of them are making things up or intentionally trying to deceive.
Also, just because Vince loses faith in a guy as a main event act, doesn't at all mean he's going to be released. Balor is not going to be released.

I'm sure there's a fairly large number of WWE fans that have no idea what NJPW is. And if you add that fans who know but don't care, then you've got a sizable percentage of their audience. Those people aren't going anywhere. They'll eventually forget that he exists and move on.

He is one of the few whose merch is rarely part of sales, he gets a huge pop every time. It’s all in how he’s being booked. Vince hasn’t had confidence in a lot of guys, doesn’t mean much. It’s the internet age and the knowledge of wrestling fans show that. How well njpw products are selling at hot topic is a great way to tell how the popularity of the product is growing. If he left now and returned to Japan, that would only bring more fans over because the omg and wtf factor of it all.

I trust Rovert more than I trust Meltzer or any other wrestling journalist for that matter.

I don't think any of them are making things up or intentionally trying to deceive. This. I mean, consider for a moment that the guys you listed above and also guys like McKenna -- all of whom break news and, for better or worse, have sources -- are attempting to cover an industry in which 90% of the performers are (or were trained by) carnies and con men. The fact that any of these guys ever uncover real information is pretty impressive. I know its 2017 and kayfabe isn't what it once was, but you're still dealing with a bunch of wrestlers, bookers and promoters who wouldn't think twice about floating dead-wrong information if it benefitted them, because unlike in real life, "working the marks" is accepted as normal behavior in the world of pro wrestling. We're talking about a bunch of grown men & women who still protect "business" terminology like it's some sort of code language, to the point where some of them get upset if you call a bad guy a "heel" as if nobody's supposed to know what that word means except them. Anyone who successfully provides straight news on this industry is doing a difficult job for almost nonexistent reward. If they suck, they lose audience. If they do well, they're dismissed as lucky guessers, and their best work is copied & pasted everywhere without credit given.

A lot of these guys made careers out of stalking wrestlers and other workers. Sure they get scoops occasionally from the source, but making shirt you site near a bunch of workers in bar to eavesdrop, is a bit slimey. I hate when pros get pissed about fans using their language as well..but when it comes to feed fake stories, they’re protecting their jobs. If everyone knew every little detail, the product would lose so much income. So in that matter, protecting the business is needed, especially for a choreographed sport.

I think he used to be when things were planned out longer. Vince used to start mapping the following years Mania the day after the current. And for the most part (injuries, etc.) He would stick to it.
Now a days it changes very quickly.

Yes. Mike Johnson is also good, Wade Keller isn’t bad and neither is Ryan Satin. But Meltzer is tops. He has the best sources and generally knows how to wade through the nonsense. He has a better grasp and understanding of the business than any of them IMO.
