I don't know, I think he may have been railroaded or blackballed. He had so much untapped potential. Seems like he was too nice of a guy to be in the wrestling business. And what am I missing from the Schiavone comments? Did they not get along? He was blackballed from the WWE. I believe the story is that he borrowed money off Vince McMahon for a house or something of that nature, and then ended up leaving the WWE in 1987 right before he and Martel won the Tag Titles. So that's when Santana stepped in and then we had Strike Force. He had a nice little run in the AWA where he was almost AWA Champion before going to WCW and doing his thing in the mid card. His biggest win no doubt was beating Arn Anderson for the TV Title at the end of 1990.

Wow, I just saw this sad news! He was one of my favorites when I was younger. I always wished he had been able to stay in the WWF and keep the Can-Am Connection going. He and Martel were a great team! I was happy for the success he had in WCW, and I hoped he would have been a bigger star there too. Very sad to hear of his passing.
RIP Tom Zenk

Remember this match well. As big a fan of Double A as I was at the time, I didn't mind Z-Man beating him for the belt.

I did not know that backstory but wow, Savage and Warrior did so much worse to Vince and they still got back in the fold, but poor Tom was a lower card guy so why would Vince care. TV champ Z-Man was good but I liked Zenk/Pillman as US tag champs too.

Do you guys remember when he had a website in which he wrote columns that buried wwe? He was spot on for the most part.
I liked his program/match vs Brian Pillman in 1992.

But Martel made a deal so that he made more than Zenk. Martel thought Zenk should just be happy to be in the big leagues and was trying to hold him down. Zenk stood up for himself and left Martel. It had nothing to do with Vince.

My favorite Tom Zenk moment isnt wrestling related. It was in the Family Feud with WCW vs GLOW and the host asked "Name a magazine where people just look at the pictures". Sting said Playboy which was the #1 answer. When it was Z-Man's turn to answer, he said "Penthouse"

I just saw this thread. He was one of my favorites in WCW. I loved his Galoob figure also.
I just always thought he got blacklisted for the Steroid trial and subsequent critical comments about Vince.
