Although Shawn Michaels remains the favorite to wrestle Ric Flair in his retirement bout at Wrestlemania, Vince McMahon is said to have an issue with the fact that a new talent wouldn't be able to get the exposure by going over in such a monumental match.

Now, I don't understand Vince's wanting a newer talent getting the honor of defeating Flair for his last match. I don't think it should be a new talent, just two guys who are legends in their own right in this business and it would certainly make more of a Wrestlemania moment in my book.
What does everyone think?

If he wanted a new talent - He'd have Kennedy Beat Flair to " End His Career " this Sunday at No Way Out (which I doubt will happen) and then have Flair's RETIREMENT match / FAREWELL match be against HBK at Mania.

I think Kennedy should do it. I feel bad for the guy lol, he could have bee a huge star if he kept his MITB or if he was McMahon's son, both chances got blew up for him. Beating Flair would be a pretty big deal, retiring him.

It`s called passing the torch, who wants it passed to another old time wrestler who should in his own right be passing the torch to others?!! I think jeff hardy should be the one to end Flairs career, it would cement him in the main event pictureand sky rocket his character to heights never even fathomed by Hardy.

Screw that. I'm tired of young guys getting pushed to the moon & then get burned out without a couple of years because they dont have the passion for the business. Let someone like HBK do it. I'd rather him do it instead of a guy who will be gone in a year or two (al la Lashley) because he'd rather be an MMA fighter.

"passing the torch" Flair hasn't seen the torch for over a decade. It doesn't matter what young wrestler beats him, they will still be in the same spot they were in entering the match. It's not like Flair is at the top of his game, or even one of the top talents in the WWE.
The match at WM will be a sentimental match, it will be about the official end of a legendary career. We have Shawn Michaels who is also coming to an end soon, and sees Flair as his childhood hero and the reason why he got into wrestling. It would make sense for HBK to beat him at WM, I don't see there being a better way to end Flairs career.
It would be cool to see a retirement vs retirement match, and with both guys not wanting to beat the other.

We won't be getting the Shawn Michaels classic match he always has. WM23- vs Cena, WM22 vs. McMahon, WM21 vs. Angle, WM 20 vs. Benoit vs. Triple H, WM19 vs. Jericho, WM14 vs. Austin, WM12 vs. Bret Hart, WM11 vs. Kevin Nash, WM10 vs. Razor Ramon
Damn, looking at all those great mania matches, HBK is truly god at wrestlemania.

Flair should win at Mania and retire himself that night.

Beating Flair would be a pretty big deal, retiring him. Everything was set up for a huge feud with Edge. Kennedy got hurt and Edge stole the case. You would think he would want revenge right? They should have drafted him to SD, and have him come back as a face to feud with Edge over the world title. Instead, we got him on on RAW (with a big pop his first night back) and he went into a meaningless IC feud with Umaga and Carlito. He could have easily been right back in the title picture, but they moved him to Raw and kept him as a heel. I think he should be the one to beat Flair at No Way Out. Like someone said, have Flair's farewell match be at WM against Shawn.
