The reason why Styles vs Nakamura is happening at WM 34 is because "wwe listens to the marks who will watch them no matter what". He says that match won't draw any extra casual fans, but because it will be a "6 star" match Wwe wants to appease the internet fans "who watch them no matter what". He said this on his podcast that I listen to for a laugh. Besides that he is an idiot, thoughts?

lol what? Since when does Vince care about appeasing the marks? And if they see them, as watching the product no matter what, why would he give one thought to appeasing them?

Every WM needs a mix of the big ticket spectacle matches like Brock, Ronda, and whichever McMahon(s) step into the ring to take some bumps to draw casual fans *and* work rate matches like AJ vs Nakamura to satisfy the hardcore fans. I made the comparison in another thread recently. WM III had the spectacle in Hogan vs Andre and the wrestling in Macho vs Steamboat.
In other words, Russo can be an idiot and this is one of those times.

Russo also said that belts are stupid because they aren’t realistic and result in wrestling angles. god forbid there be wrestling angles in wrestling.
wrestling used to be able to stand on it’s own feet without relying on Hollywood, steroids, selling sex and real violence...I like that nakamura and aj are main eventing because it represents true wrestling.
seriously, Russo is hot trash.

The fact that Nakamura isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame yet is criminal!

His comment makes sense. There's no story behind that match in WWE. It's exciting for those die-hard fans who know about New Japan, but even in Japan there was only one match between the two. Plus, Nakamura won the Royal Rumble pretty much out of the blue, other than his recent short interview segments on SD.
It's an easy match for WWE, one they won't think needs much if any story.
I like Vince Russo. Fans get caught up in other people's professional grudges against him that exist for reasons we weren't party to. It's unnecessary. We don't need to pick sides like that. We don't need to dislike certain people in order to like others, especially people we don't even really know.

That's why they're booking Reigns/Lesnar as the big money match, right?

Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar isnt going to move the needle and draw casual fans either.

He also said Lita should have won the women's royal rumble because that would have drawn casual fans.

Vince Russo’s thoughts and opinions are irrelevant in 2018 and trying to make “controversial” comments won’t help get him back into the wrestling business.

We don't need to dislike certain people in order to like others, especially people we don't even really know. The story is twofold. One, it's two highly popular and highly talented wrestlers who will have a match on the biggest stage of the year to see who is best. And two, Nakamura won the Royal Rumble which entitles him to a world title match, as per the storyline they established 3 decades ago. No one dislikes Vince Russo because other people also dislike him. He's one of the most hated people in the history of professional wrestling because he's a ing idiot.

I mean does it really matter? AJ/Shinsuke are most likely the fourth most publicized match behind Rousey, Cena/Undertaker, and Reigns/Brock anyways.

He's right that AJ/Nakamura is NOT going to attract casual fans to WM. Those fans will come bc of Rousey. Those fans will come bc The Rock, if he is booked. NO ONE on the WWE roster is attracting a casual fan.

No. He is a moron. He helped kill what was left of WCW when he came in. He came up with some of the most moronic stuff imaginable in TNA. The crap that comes out of his mouth is just a bunch of clickbait garbage, so he can keep his name in people's mouths. Of course there's no story behind the match yet; they haven't even begun the build to WM yet. If Orton won the Rumble and chose to face AJ, there would be no story behind that yet either. Not to mention that AJ and Nak are two of the most popular superstars in WWE, so how is it just pandering to smarks?

It was Vince's promotion that lasted 2 whole shows. There's a funny Wrestling with Regret YouTube video about it.

We don't need to dislike certain people in order to like others, especially people we don't even really know. That last sentence is true. However what is also true is that people can dislike him for his personal views towards groups of people, which is the category I fall into. Then there are others who dislike him for his involvement in the latter years of WCW. It's not just simply "this guy doesn't like him, so I don't like him either". There are quite a few other reasons to dislike Vince Russo.

I hate the term mark. That aside, on Nakamura vs Styles is to please the hardcore fans. So what? There is nothing wrong with that.
