This isn't going to be a UK chat thread until we mention a fast food chain. KFC have run out of chicken! www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-43124259Meanwhile, our KFC got closed down by the health inspector last year. Saw that in the news here and they only preempted it by saying "KFC Closing Stores" not saying it was because of a shortage in England and for like five minutes during commercial anyone watching ABC News was having an aneurysm here in the states. We've still got McDonalds, so all's good. But I would literally kill to have a Burger King here. Every time I go over to Liverpool, it's straight to Burger King...

No Burger King, and we only got Domino's and Pizza Hut in the last few years. They always try and force supermarkets off of the Island too, Tesco and M&S have stuck it out - but Morrison's was done and dusted within nine months. No Asda, Lidl, Aldi - it's a terrible place to live if you like having things to do.

The funny thing is, I'm from the Isle of Wight originally and we moved up here when I was 2 because my Dad got a new job. Ironically, he's been back living down there since 2003 and we just stayed put. I can't even begin to tell you how much the Isle of Man sucks to live on. The only time there's stuff on is at TT.

Most of the US is excited because of Meghan. I'm not a Brit, so I literally should have no opinion other than being happy for a couple tying the knot. But I was talking to a friend yesterday who lives in Leeds who didn't care less because the royals have no power. I argued they have more power than he thought. Sure, May is your political leader for better or worse, but the Queen was one hell of a diplomat back in her day, and I have high hopes for William, Kate, Harry and eventually Meghan to be more than figureheads. To actually be diplomats trying to help solve problems, be hosts to neutral ground negotiations, stuff like that. Well, here, Howard Quayle is our leader because we have our own "government" - but he's just as crap as May. As for the Royals ever holding power, it won't happen. The UK government will never take the risk all because of Charles I back in the 1600s. They aren't even allowed to have political affiliations, they have to be neutral - I imagine it's quite hard to keep their tongues bitten at times. They're still public figures doing humanitarian and diplomatic work though, no? The younger ones, anyways.

They're also expected to make overseas visits, and hold dinners for other heads of state when they visit the UK. It's all for show (apart from the humanitarian work of course) I still love the awkward silence after Obama made his first visit and toasted the Queen, and she responded with: "I don't want a toast."

She really meant she didn't want the piece of toast her chef was making her eat to get her daily fiber.
