I want the Briscoes and Funks, even though that would be "the poison", of course I can't remember anyone releasing them before so I dunno how they'd go over. We should make a realistic list of doable characters and looks we want, like why isn't there a Chainsaw Charlie or Bob Backlund yet? Here is my prediction.... Linda McMahon will finally get a figure after being impressed with Mattel’s work. Rights to make Owen Hart will finally come through and we will have one by 2019 (2020 at the latest). Benoit will never be made. Period. I was thinking on the way home, why not release the Benoit figures as a masked luchador called La Crippler? I know it's not gonna happen, but I could imagine it.

Dosen't this Rooster guy work for the E? That's probably why he is getting a figure. To add to the discussion I too would like a Chainsaw Charlie.

If you want random jobbers...like this Brooklyn Brawler one man gang Repo Man... Everybody needs to buy this figure twice LOL so that we can show them if they make the Obscure figures will buy them... And again the WWE knows they messed up with the Terry Taylor character and I'm pretty sure this toy is a shout out to throw him some extra cash for everything he's done for the company... So everybody buy him..So we can get more.... Al Snow's Barry horwitz's and so on

A Hopeful Sign thread means NOW anything is possible. ANYTHING!!!! If the rationale is that Terry Taylor (Red Rooster) works for the company therefore they gave him a figure then what about Jerry Briscoe? What about MIchael PS Hayes and the Freebirds are in the Hall of fame what about Pat Patterson in the Hall of Fame? If the rationale is that Toys R us just wants jobbers then no wonder they are going out of business. No matter how hard this group spins it - the reality is - that Mattel is making insignificant wrestlers - which I have no problem with as long as they make NEW significant legend wrestlers. Finally, people are entitled to their opinions obviously, but for people on this board to play judge and jury and God as to who was naughty and nice and only the nice will become immortalized as a figure is a joke. If you don't want that figure don't buy it but wrestlers do naughty things. Some get caught some don't. I judge them by what they do in the ring and let the law and God take care of everything else. Note: I was wrong about Haku ... it was not him in the Giant Machine tag team - but he was tag team partners with Andre. Things change as someone above mentioned so there is hope for everyone. I am usually NOT a fan of remakes ONLY if the figure is better and then I always buy. I would love a classic Snuka! I would buy a Chynna! I would by Benoit as wrestlers!

It's pretty amazing that of all the legends Mattel hasn't made, Red Rooster was a priority. That figure will be the king of all shelf-warmers.

Like a lot of good wrestlers who didn't have a great physique during the late 80s, the Red Rooster was under utilized (not saying he would have been a great success, but I believe he could have done better than he did). Look how long it took Vince to really use Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels - two great wrestlers who didn't have physiques like Warrior and Hogan. Taylor was a good technical wrestler and had a decent run in Mid South and WCW. Taylor would have fit better in Jim Crockett Promotions at the time.

Thugsuperstar, you are 100 percent right. I am so fascinated how this process works. WWE has many Hall of Famers not immortalized as figures. They own WCW and to do Ron Simmons is awesome - but where are the evil Russians (Ivan and Nikita)? Isn't that in right now? Russia russia russia. The Steiners? The Rockers? Where is the evil German Baron Von Rachke? The Great Muta? The former Champions like Ron Garvin or Bob Backlund, Harley Race, Billy Superstar Graham etc? Where is the evil Kevin Sullivan or his body type the same as a Buzz Sawyer? Giant Gonzales - Adam Bomb - Bad News Brown - Koko B Ware? Or some of the classics like Lou Albano, Mr. Fugi, British Bulldogs, Killer Bees, etc ... This is a total head scratcher - so unless this is an alternative Universe the only thing I can say is there is hope. I will buy Red Rooster but I'm scratching my head with confusion.

I love that Mattel isn't afraid to take a chance on some outside the box characters. It's amusing to watch some people on this board get up in arms that it will clog up the shelves when it's been pretty clear that these TRU exclusives like Virgil and Yankem are primarily being sold online, with only limited stock ever even getting to stores.
Ultimately it's in WWE's hands who to sign to Legends deals, and then up to Mattel to determine if they want to make the figure. Remember, there was a point when Bill said that Scott Hall was a hard "no" as to ever getting made. Money talks, things change.
My only gripe is that if there are figures who ARE under contract and Mattel wants to pass on them simply because they think they wouldn't sell well, at least give us a basic. Figures like Backlund and Valentine have very, very plain looks and all it would take it a new headsculpt. While I'd gladly buy the figures as Elites, I'd rather have them produced in some form than not at all.

In re-watching the video interview of Bill and Foley in 2107 he stated that he gives the WWE a list of wrestlers he would like to do. He also said later that the WWE informs Mattel of what Legends deals they have and when they expire. He also said don't hold your breath about completing the WWF/WWE World Champion line with Staisak and Pedro Morales. So that is a lot of good info. We know that Billy Superstar Graham and Greg Valentine, Bob Backlund etc had Legends deal .... curious how that has not been executed yet. Also curious why someone like Toys R us or another large chain wouldn't want to be affiliated with the COMPLETE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LINE! I think it would sell with the belts and a unique stand.

"By Mattel making The Red Rooster it is now official ... The Negative haters can never - ever - ever tell us why Mattel won't make certain legends because they won't sell."
This makes no sense, so because they make something means it will sell?

Purple Reigns Superstar ... what I'm saying is the fact that Mattel has now made The Red Rooster, Shockmaster, and Virgil ... there is no more excuse that old legends don't sell because otherwise, they would have NEVER made them. Harley Race, Bob Backlund, Superstar Graham, Rocky Johnson, Tony Atlas, greg Valentine etc are not only cool looking but Hall of Famers and are far more recognizable and successful. NO MORE!

Red rooster was on my small list of legends i wouldnt spend $20 on but after seeing it, i dont know if its how spot on it looks or the lack of 88-92 flashbacks but im buying one.
It will have to hold me off until they make Gonzalez, Barbarian, Haku , Hercules , Bravo and Valentine. Which could be a very long time lol

I wonder if they have to be under contract for a certain amount of time for bill to say it’s worth working on. Like if he finds out he only has say a year to get a figure out he may just want skip it instead of trying g to Rush one out and doing all that work and having it get canned
