So I understand from the recent Las Vegas Con that Ron Simmons is pretty much final. What I don't understand is how this: Looks anything remotely similar to the face, skin-tone and size of these reference pics: This is what gives the SPREADSHEETS theory legs, because I just don't understand how the lead designer can look at these pics, look at the wealth of parts in the library and think that this was the best combo. I get that molds have a shelf life, but an Apollo, Triple H, Ultimate Warrior, Booker T, etc. all use a torso that would have been far more appropriate. I'm not losing sleep over this believe me, but it is a tad frustrating because who are we kidding, this is a one-and-done figure. And based on Mattel's track record, if we ever get a yellow, purple, or maroon tights Simmons it's going to have this ridiculous torso again. Bill's in no rush to fix the Surfer Sting torso either, and let's not open that can of worms that's the singlet-torso. So Ron Simmons is as big as DM Ric Flair (another terrible parts-choice) and Alberto Del Rio...DAMN! Why not do it right the first time?

Seeing as he is shown with zero accessories, I doubt it’s a final product.
I agree, he should have a much larger torso. But no matter what torso he got, it would still be a cry fest.
If they gave him the trips torso, people would bitch he was never that cut.
We’ve seen one photo of the thing, let’s wait to completely lose our minds till we see more.

I’m hoping they make Doom. Not even sure if that’s a possibility contract wise.
Also, what’s the word on possibly getting more WCW titles? What about ECW?

God this is overkill on the complaining for me. I genuinely like this figure. It’s not perfect but it’s a flashback of someone we do t have and it isn’t that bad.

You might see it as complaining, but I think the majority of us would really like to know what decision-making goes into designing an action figure. Mattel has an exhaustive parts-library, I'm sure they have tons of molds in China, this type of figure isn't breaking the budget on paint apps - so what's the reason for the poor choice in parts? Is Bill that artistically out-of-touch? I hope not. But maybe you're on to something - accept it because "it isn't that bad" If we ever get a Haku, I can almost see him with this torso as well - maybe we'll make a bigger fuss because he's more popular than Ron Simmons?

Apollo’s torso would be to lean. From straight on it looks wide, but from the profile it is leaner than the Flair torso they used. And the Batista torso would be to ripped. Maybe I would have used the Austin torso? But maybe that torso with the legs they have to use would put his height out of scale?

People who went to the show talked to Bill and he said it’s pretty much final. I’d have gone with the Bulldog torso. I’m not sure it’s the right size either but it seems to be the best option I can think of.

I’d use the Rock/Austin/Bulldog torso as well but I’d use that for Sting as well and surely Faarooq is bigger than Sting

But of the torsos available I think that is the best choice. It’s thick, but not ripped.but I feel it may be a longer torso than others so maybe it would make Simmons to tall?

As far as the contract goes, I'm assuming you're referring to Butch Reed. If they put the masks on, and just call him Doom # 2, would they be allowed to make the figures??

I don't have an issue with the face or the skin tone.

He didn't wear tall white boots, but like I said, that's real nitpicking.

Kanes Torso from E10 would have worked nicely. But, i’ll be very honest, I like Simmons, he looks awesome, but the WCW title is why i will buy this.

^^ Something must have happened to that Iron Shiek torso mold, it was never used again on anyone.

Looks close enough to me. Just hoping he ends up coming with a headband. The belt is my main want from this figure anyway.
