So, I’ve never been a fan of the Balor sculpt. I’ve admired the work of many customizers for a while; finally decided to give it a try. The below picture is an apoxie sculpt, followed by a coat of primer, follow by some more sculpting. I’m thinking of priming it again and then painting the face before deciding if I need to sculpt some more. Any suggestions are absolutely appreciated. Go easy on a first timer, though.

I really like that texture you've got in the hair and beard. I find that adding paint will often give a better idea of whether you are getting the look you have been going for. Then you can refine further if you feel it is necessary.

Such a rough first round that I didn’t even want to post. Just wanted to get some color on it so I can reassess what needs to be sculpted down, smoothed out, etc. Do you think the beard may be sculpted too thick? Clearly the final project will be much smoother and painted more intricately this was mostly a 30 minute job to see depth a little bit better than with a solid gray.

With the dead eyes and ed up skin texture. It would make a good zombie custom.

The beard may be sculpted a little thick, but that will work to your favor, as you can sand it down instead of having to build it up. I still like that texture in his hair, you've got a very good start here!

The only problem I see with the sculpt is that the delicate bits that stick out will snap off if you don't handle the fig carefully.
I think the texture is okay, but I'd tone it down, maybe just squish some more apoxie into the beard so it fills the recesses a little.

Ewww. Looks like he’s got a bunch of Frosted Flakes glued to his face.

I would smooth down the sides of his hair above his ears, and use a watered down version of what you used as his hair tone as he has a fade so it would be almost like skin right there.

Feeling a little better after sanding down the beard and smoothing out the face. Wanted to add another layer of paint to see what I was working with, facially, and I need a bit more smoothing on the forehead and nose. Haven't started working on the body sculpt yet as I'm a bit of a perfectionist. Do you see a little Balor in the face?

Honestly, you’re only making it look less like Balor.
