Was pretty bored this afternoon and decided i don't use the network as much as I could. I literally only use it to watch live events and NXT. So after never experiencing any original ECW in my life I decided to stick Hardcore Heaven 2000 on and... Damn, I really enjoyed that!
I was a bit confused as to what was going on in all the matches, no idea why people were feuding or having matches, and that's why I've always found it hard getting into other companies, I was a bit worried about production values too but I was glued.
The show had a mixed bag of all styles of wresting, including some insane spots that ECW is of course famous for, especially in its later days. Sandman's wife getting piledriven through the table by Rhyno (who seems to have been booked brilliantly in ECW and looked like a monster the whole show) sticks out inparticular. I even enjoyed New Jack being New Jack 😂 The match with Tajiri and Steve Corino was brutal, only to be topped by RVD and Jerry Lynn (one of the most underrated ever?) which I'm also lead to believe isn't even their best match?
Sure the main event was rather lackluster but the crowd was on fire and made everything seem real.
This is definitely something I'd like to watch more of. I almost wish I was born 5-10 years earlier to experience this at the time. So I'm wondering if there is any big ECW fans on here or if anyone could recommend some more PPV's or individual matches available on the network?

RVD and Jerry Lynn had the best chemistry between two wrestlers I've ever seen and I consider all of their matches to be true classics. I highly recommend watching any show where those two went at it.
I'd also recommend watching any of the Tajiri/SuperCrazy/Little Guido matches. Today's cruiserweights could learn a thing or two from those three.
If you're going to watch any ECW PPVs you simply have to watch the very first one: Barely Legal from '97.

Pretty much watch anything 1997. I feel like that was ECW's iconic year. Not sure if its on the network or not but you absolutely have to go out and find the Born to be Wired match between Funk & Sabu. I had it on VHS and we watched it in class back in HS. The classroom was literally silent from that match.

Watch Heat Wave 99. It's worth it alone for the Dudley's promo where they went off script and nearly incited a riot.

I  ing LOVE watching ECW shows. mikey1974 is right about heatwave 99. Buh Buhs promos were amazing in ECW. They used to actually fight fans and the security guards hated them cause they were such good heels the security guards knew when they came out their jobs were about to get harder (yes I stole the quote from the Dudley’s DVD, but they would regularly fight fans. So you know it’s true) I agree with you on new jack, love that crazy ass.hole. All of RVD and Lynn’s matches are incredible. And I also wish I was born sooner so I could’ve seen ECW while it was happening. Paul Heyman is an evil genius, that’s the only way I can describe that man. I would recommend living Dangerously 2000(there’s some crazy new jack crapon that show), anarchy rules 99, and guilty as charged 2000 (first ECW show I ever watched. Very good show) |

As far as full cards, Heat Wave 98 is considered by some to be the best pay per view that ECW did in it's original run. It's one of my personal favorites because it has Hayabusa on the card, but it also has the amazing Tanaka vs Awesome match.

I'm not sure if all these are on the Network as I don't have it. I'd assume something like Heat Wave 98 is but as far as Cyberslam or Hostile City Showdown, could be missing from the network.

It's a WWE produced PPV, but it's as ECW as anything. Tanaka Vs. Mike Awesome was amazing. Ignore Joey Styles' foreshadowing in that match. "Mike Awesome with a suicide dive, and it's a shame that he didn't succeed in taking his own life!" When Mike did take his own life just 2 years later. |

Thanks for the replies so far guys. Yeah I've seen both the One Night Stand events numerous times. I thought those might have tempted me to go through the old archive a lot sooner, but never got round to it. When I made this thread I fully expected the same 2 or 3 PPV's to keep getting mentioned, but good to see everyone has their own favourites, which gives me hope. McBlake I started watching some of the old ECW ppvs towards the end of 2015 and just fell in love with the shit. I haven’t watched as much as I would like to but I love it. I actually bought an ECW shirt and have been getting it signed by every ECW original I meet just cause i can’t get enough of the crap. I love talking to the guys that lived it about ECW too. Every one that I’ve been able to talk to about it has just lit up when I told them I was into it. I think partially cause of what it was and cause I’m only 16 so a lot of the guys probably think “wow this kid is into the crazy crapwe did 20 years ago. We must’ve done something right” it’s just great. Especially Mikey whipwreck, Shane Douglas and Jerry Lynn. I had a good conversation with all of those guys about ECW when I met them.

by the time it was 2000, ecw wasn’t really at it’s best despite still having some great talents. check out 95-98 for their best stuff.

I caught everything other than the first two PPV's live on PPV (I even went to Dayton Ohio for Heatwave '98-'99) ECW was magical.

06 was terrible IMO. The WWE Title as the main event? Big slap in the face to original fans.
