I don't know why, but for some reason I was reading online about Ty Cobb. It mentioned the story about how the Peach went into the stands to beat the crap out of a heckler who had no hands. Then there's the fact that he would sharpen his spikes before the game and would come in with his spikes high too. Throw in his racism and hatred for such a hatable guy as Babe Ruth (obviously the Babe was on steroids right?) and you've got a great hatable, dirty player. I must admit he's one of my favorites in all of sports. Who's yours and why?

Louis Prima: With all the great players playing ball right now, how well do you think you would do against today's pitchers? Ty Cobb: Well, I figure against today's pitchers I'd only probably hit about .290 Louis Prima: .290? Well that's amazing, because you batted over .400 a... a whole bunch of times. Now tell us all, we'd all like to know, why do you think you'd only hit .290? Ty Cobb: Well, I'm 72 ing years old you ignorant son of a bitch.

I love Cobb's comment after he went after the fan with no arms and his team mates tried to restrain him, "I don't care if the son of a bitch has no legs!"

I can't get over going into the stands and beating the crap out of a guy with no arms. You can't pull off crap like that nowadays. It's one of the big problems with professional sports.

John Stockton... hands down. argh you took mine. I'll go with Charles Oakley, who clubbed every single guy who drove the lane on him in the neck with forearms the size of firewood.
