The Ultimate Finale for season five will be held at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 23, 2007.

* Lightweight Bout: Jens Pulver vs B.J. Penn * Lightweight Bout: Manvel Gambaryan vs Nathan Diaz * Lightweight Bout: Roger Huerta vs. Doug Evans
Preliminary card:
* Middleweight Bout: Thales Leites vs. Floyd Sword * Lightweight Bout: Brandon Melendez vs. Joe Lauzon * Lightweight Bout: Andy Wang vs. Cole Miller * Lightweight Bout: Rob Emerson vs. Gray Maynard * Lightweight Bout: Leonard Garcia vs. Allen Berube * Lightweight Bout: Brian Geraghty vs. Matt Wiman
Notes
* Marlon Sims and Noah Thomas, who during the show were expelled from the house after fighting in the backyard, were originally announced to be fighting on the Finale by a Spike TV press release. Since then however, Dana White announced that the fight will not be on the card and that these two will not be fighting in the UFC.
* Corey Hill was originally scheduled to fight Allen Berube, but had to back out due to injury.
* Brandon Melendez failed to make weight for his fight against Joe Lauzon. He cut to within one pound of the 156 pound limit. However, doctors advised him not to continue in the interest of his health. The fight will continue as planned, but Melendez will be fined 10% of his fight purse.

Man, BJ just dominated Jens throughout the fight. Props to Pulver for getting out of a couple situations where I thought forsure he was done, but in the end, Penn was just way to much.

BJ had a severely pulled groin coming into this fight... But he still thoroughly whooped his ass.

I was totally disappointed by this show. Gray knocking himself out was cool. Manny's shoulder injury sucked. He was my pick to win this thing. After watching the entire season, I still can't make out a word Diaz says. I wish Manny had knocked the marbles out of his mouth.
The main event was ok, but Jens looked really out of it. It was totally BJ's fight.

How did Gray knock himself out? Was it Mark Kerr style?

Someone needs to explain to me how this no contest happended Rob Emerson had an injured rib (apparently torn cartilage) that Gray actually landed a vicious blow on in the 1st round. Emerson came back out in the second round and they clinched on the fence. Gray picked him up for a slam. Slammed him to the ground and knocked himself out as his head hit the mat. Emerson tapped out, Gray turned over with his eyes rolled back in his head. It lead to a no contest. (Gray clearly upset, trying to say he was fine and "tired" -- but you could clearly see he was out.) Unfortunate ending to a good fight.

It was funny how Gray was saying, "I wasn't knocked out" and Joe Rogan was just like, "Yeah dude, you were."

I thought it was a great night of fights despite a few of my picks lost. Manny was my pick from the start of the season to win and if he didn't blow out his shoulder, he would've won that fight for sure. He dominated the first round and he would've eventually took Diaz out. No question about it.
I hope Manny gets a contract anyway. He deserves one and another chance at Diaz. And how about that no contest?? That fight was very controversial to say the least.
I mean, it was over when Rob tapped. Gray being knocked out after the tap shouldn't have mattered. It was after the fact, so in my opinion, Gray won that fight regardless if he was knocked out or not, which I think he was. I'm not denying that at all.
The tap came first and you can clearly see referee Steve Mazzagatti wave off the fight due to Rob's tapping, not because Gray is out. The referee is looking at Rob the whole time and waving it off. Gray got ripped off in that fight for sure.
