Not surprising. Gamestop rips people[mostly kids] off. Their prices are insane. I can buy a brand new game for $60 then the next day get $10 in trade for it.Then they will price that used game at $54.99. Seems fair. Lol. I really want that Honkey Tonk man hopefully it still sees the light of day. I don't think you know how buisness works. I work at GameStop, and a brand new game that you bought yesterday usually trades in for 35 dollars. They then sell it back for 55 to make a $20 profit. Why would any respectable buisness take the game in for what they sell it for? They would then make no profit. It's not "ripping people off" as you seem to think, it's making smart buisness decisions. No one's making you trade in your game.

A. I don’t see why Gamestop carries figures at all.
B. People who trade there have little to no concept of trading for cash. They can’t offer you $50 on a used game even if it is brand new. Just like cars, anything goes down drastically in price once opened/used. They’re a business, not a charity. Just like pawn shops are a “rip off.” You’re better off trading for credit or trading for games. I’m not sure if they still do that or not. Trading for money never satisfies anyone lol

As usual, people are jumping the gun quite a bit here. Much like with the TRU private equity purchase, the ultimate demise will probably play out over a number of years before ultimately. There's a chance that if they go under new ownership the chain may shift away from toys, but there's also the chance that they'll increase their toy selection since they're losing ground in video games to digital purchases.
Is this good news? Probably not. But there's also little to no real information right now.

I am not gonna argue with you about it. Defend your store I get it. But they are overpriced on pretty much everything toy related.

Definitely too early to say much at the moment. But at $30 a pop, these are dead in the water anyway. I'll pay that for HTM since it's near DM-level, but not the others.

Welp here comes another user making assumptions with a half naked woman as his signature. And your point about the "half naked woman" in my signature is...? Do you add anything to this board other than horrible snarky comments that BOMB like Hiroshima? Just wondering...for a friend...

GameStop carries way too many POP figures. If I recall, POPs killed off Hastings, they devoted too much of the budget to it and it doesn’t move.

Wait Pop figures dont sell? Sorry but it is The single best selling toy brand in the world right now. So someone is buying them I guess. Hastings went out of business do to poor decisions. But stocking and pushing a line that appeals to pretty much everyone regardless of what you are into is not one of them.
I work at Gamestop as well, and yes main line action figures are overpriced. But generally they follow SRP. As a business they are not in a position to try to compete with the selling at a loss prices of Walmart.
I'm amazed at how many people do not undsrstand the trade process. Gamestop makes nearly zero profit on selling new games and consoles. Reselling games for more than they give you is how they stay in business. If you don't understand that or don't like it, don't shop there.
Gamestop will be out of business in probably the next 10 years. After the next video game console cycle has ran its course, gaming will be strictly online streaming. Gamestop will transition to selling old games and consoles for a while. More toys and other merchandise. But it won't keep them afloat long term.
As for Retrofest; the line isn't going anywhere. At least not until next year. Macho has been pretty popular. And no store that I know of has gotten one that wasn't a pre order. I'm confident Honkey will come out this fall. After that I don't know.

Hmmmm I see a pattern Funko pops overtook Hastings .... went out of business. My TRU gave them two aisle and soon TRU went out of business. Damn those ugly stupid dolls Funko is killing all of our hobby stores on purpose. I have decided the Funko Prophacey now I must be on the run because an albino just knocked on my door. Beware the Funko!

You strictly like new slayer, don’t ya? Actually Seasons In The Abyss is my favorite album. (Seasons even though it is kind of slow for Slayer is my favorite song, actually paid $150 a few years back for the Bloodpack Seasons single for the alternate version of the song which had a flute in the intro and different solos), followed by Hell Awaits, followed by South of Heaven, followed by believe it or not Divine Intervention (being that that was the first Slayer album (TAPE...back in 1994...)that I bought. Meaning Reign BARELY cracks my top 5 Slayer albums. Also have seen Slayer a grand total of 25 times (the last two shows were last Thursday and Saturday, which will sadly in all likelihood be the last Slayer shows I've seen live. My first one was in 1994 when I was 13). Also have over 50 Slayer shirts from over the years and met the boys a few times through the years (back when they had record stores was the first time, back then they had Paul Bostaph instead of Dave, also met Jeff several times away from Slayer when he did clinics at one of the music stores that used to be around here. REALLY chill dude. Gary Holt is also awesome, I met him back when he played with Exodus on his bus and had a beer with him, Exodus being another of my favorite bands...) Met them (Slayer) backstage too because of a journalist/radio friend of mine. Traveled to numerous cities to see them. So, nah, I don't strictly like new Slayer haha.

I’ll buy GameStop for about 4.87 if it isn’t defective. Then I’ll buy for 2.00 if defective.

If those thinkgeek stores can stay profitable I think what you will see is exclusives will probably shift over there. Gamestop as a whole is going to go under slowly but surely. The better high speed internet gets, the less demand for physical disks the faster gamestop will go under.

Problem is I don't THINK there's a Thinkgeek around me (I could be wrong, I haven't had much time to hunt in ever...it's all preorders and friends in California for the exclusives for me heh heh) so I HOPE that there is an online option to order from Thinkgeek.

Obviously, a game that's been in the market past a month will depreciate greatly due to saturation, but Gamestop gives 50% cash back on games less than a month old... you're being over dramatic without doing any kind of research on the matter. Not really a defender of Gamestop, but I've never had an issue with my local locations or the employees. My biggest complaint with Gamestop, however, is that they don't compete with the Zon and Best Buy with 20% off pre-order games.
