A-rod is refusing to talk to the Yankees about a mid-season contract extension, he says he wants to wait until the season is over...which means he probably has plans to opt out and leave.
He has 3 years and $72 million left, and he would get a huge extension, so him not wanting to talk during the season leads me to believe that it isn't about the money because he could get that payday from the Yankees if he would talk now....this seems like he wants to leave the Yankees, because if it was just about the money he would take it now because nobody can pay him more than the Yankees.

Hafner is having a weak year, the fact that he gets Ortiz type money is impressive....imagine what he would have asked for last year What happened to your av? No Dice K?

I can just hear all the Yankee fans crying when he does leave.

I really won't care. I'm of the opinion that we haven't won with him, why not try something else?

Like I've been saying all along, A-Rod will stay. He has until 15 days after the World Series to opt out. Assuming the Yankees don't make the playoffs, they could even begin negotiations in early-October after their season is over.
Bash away, but it's just my personal opinion. Boras wants A-Rod's stock to rise as much as humanly possible, so I don't find it surprising at all that he won't negotiate during the regular season. And that's assuming that what he said is true. The Yankees have the tendency to want to keep their signings as quiet as possible.

I can't believe that Roy Oswalt's name is popping up at all in trade rumors. Asia, are the Astros really that ing intellectually- disabled?

How many other teams are gonna be able to pay A-Rod the 30-32 million per he is going to demand? I'll count the Red Sox out right now... with the treatment A-Rod has received from the Red Sox fans since coming to NY, would Boston really want him? It would require too much moving pieces... Manny would have to go, you'd have to find someone to take him, he'd have to waive his 10/5... it would be a mess. The only fits are really LA(both teams), Chicago... who I really don't think would invest in another 100 million dollar player, eventhough the prospect of A-Rod joining Soriano, Lee and Ramirez is a very scary thought, and possibly the Mets... although that would take moving David Wright to second base, and they've been down that road before with Reyes, I don't think they want to disrupt that. Not to mention, if you're going to leave New York, why go across town, where the Media isn't gonna be any less harsh on you?
I really couldn't care less. A-Rod is a tremendous player, but its been shown you can win without him.

You know, I actually respected Jonathan Papelbon until this ridiculous gibberish: Jonathan Papelbon: When I'm out there pitching, it's not Jonathan Papelbon pitching, it's Cinco Ocho pitching. I get a little revved up some times, and Cinco Ocho doesn't know how to control himself when he's out there. We've got a good relationship going on right now with Cinco Ocho, so we'll try and keep it that way. He got a little out of control the other night (Editor's note: When he nearly blew a gasket during this 2-1 win), so we'll see how he does with the All-Star game and things like that.Note- You're not black. Note- You're not hispanic. Note- You're not Chad Johnson. Shut. The. . Up. Honkey.

Yeah, there aren't many places he can go. Maybe Kansas City will pony up the dough! ;D
Obviously I'd lvoe to see him in Atlanta, but we don't really need him, unless we move Chipper. Our problems are in our rotation, and first base. But we desperately need a big bat, which is something we have never really had.

Mike Lowell is going to be gone after this year, and if the Red Sox have an impressive postseason or win the world series.....I wouldn't put it past A-Rod to try and get with them....and if you have a 3-4-5 of Ortiz, A-Rod, Manny.......thats adding to an already deadly team.
Red Sox just need to improve that starting rotation. Schilling and Wakefield need to go,....Dice-K and Beckett are fine...and Tavarez isn't going to get it done. Lester will be back, so they need a 4th and 5th starter.
If they get a better rotation and keep Papelbon thinking he's a black gangster, the Red Sox could go on a little run here.

Red Sox actually can afford him, and I think they will go after him...maybe just to jack the price up but they will make the calls. They can afford him because Schilling/Clement/Lowell all come off the books and that equals = 13+9+10=32$...just what it would cost for A-Rod. Plus Manny has one more year, so why not get his replacement early? He is going to go to LA, not Boston
ARod is 100% going to Opt Out, if people think after these comments today he wont, I am sorry you are fooling yourself.
The teams that can/might be able afford him:
San Francisco Cubs White Sox Red Sox Yankees Dodgers Angels

It does seem like he's gotten a lot cockier, perfect example the other week vs. the Rangers how he almost got his ass tossed out, if it wasn't for Pedroia.

I can deal with cockiness... I actually like it. But get your own act... don't steal someone elses. I like creativity more than cockiness...

I think A-ROD will stay with the Yankees. He said he likes New York. If anybody deserves all of this money it is him.
