Average with runners in scoring position & 2 outs: Rowand- .395 Pujols- .313 Average with bases loaded: Rowand- .571 Pujols- .400 I don't think it was stupid. now pull up the numbers that aren't from a three month sample size. if you people can't figure out the difference between Albert Pujols and Aaron Rowand, God help you. Obviously Pujols is a much better player, but I just don't think it's so huge that the media/Pujols should be bashing La Russa.

I would trade my entire team sans Beckett and Papelbon, and even my tongue attached to Ortiz's balls for Pujols

The only thing dumber is the argument you're trying to make. If you're saying you'd rather have Aaron Rowand against Francisco Rodriguez in the bottom of the 9th, 2 outs than Albert Pujols... you're nuts. There are certain guys you want in that situation- David Ortiz, Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter, Vlad Guererro, heck, despite his struggles in the clutch, Alex Rodriguez too. Certain situations you throw the stats out. When you have a player like Albert Pujols on your bench in that situation, you go with him. You would never hear the question "Why did you pinch hit Albert Pujols for Aaron Rowand?" And I like Rowand. He is a solid ballplayer. However, in the pecking order of players I'd want up in that situation, I'm not sure if Rowand would crack the top 100.

Yeah, I probably would have gone with Pujols but it's not like Rowand is a bum in those situations.

Besides, the NL was about to make a comeback and if Pujols were to get in the game, there would be no 1B's left on the bench. LaRussa obviously thinks the Cards still have a shot and he doesn't want his star player playing a meaningless( pretty much..) game for god knows how long.

Royals promote 2006 #1 Pick Luke Hochevar to AAA.
Why? He is 3-6 with a 4.69 ERA in AA. Not to mention batters are batting .286 against him. Watch him turn into the next Greinke.

yea, that was pretty weak by larussa pinch hitting cabrerra just to get an AB because he was injured, yet pujols is healthy as a horse and didn't get one single at bat, or even an inning in the field. that's messed up.

Hafner is having a weak year, the fact that he gets Ortiz type money is impressive....imagine what he would have asked for last year
