The injured Ray Allen impresses me. Have fun with him we didn't need him in Seattle. Lewis was a bigger loss.

I think it will be more like 15 more games. He's really starting to slow down and limp a lot more. I didn't realize he was in such bad shape.

Its a shame that someone like Barry Bonds is going to break this record.
755 will always be the home run record in my books.

I hope he tears both ACLs tonight. See, I'm a nicer guy...I'd settle for any ligament tear as long as it results in the end of his career. It doesn't even have to be his ACL.

I hope Dan Haren drills him in the mouth and knocks all his steroid teeth out of his puffy steroid head.
The "record" means nothing to me. Why? Because the true Home Run king is in third place, and will probably continue to fall down the list as juicers, and compilers continue to surpass him.
I have nothing against Hank Aaron. He was a great ballplayer for a very, very long time. However, Babe Ruth he was not. Aaron was a great player in the game of baseball. Ruth was the game of baseball. He was one of few athletes that were simply bigger than the sport they played. I actually liked Barry Bonds, and thought he was a better all around baseball player before he started juicing and looking like swamp thing.
Bonds was going to go down as perhaps one of the 5-10 greatest overall ballplayers ever before he started juicing. Unfortunately that wasn't enough for him, so his career will be shrouded by controversy and asterisks.
Its just hard to get excited knowing that A-Rod is probably going to break Bonds' record, and Pujols may very well break A-Rod's record. I think before a lot of us die, we could very well see someone reach 900-1000 career home runs... if it gets to that point, will the once special 500 mark become meaningless?

Hell, it wasn't that long ago that 300 was a pretty big accomplishment.

The only thing that excites me about Bonds breaking the record is that they'll finally leave it alone.
As much as I hate the Yankees, I'll be more excited when A-Rod breaks Bonds record so that a true (read: un-juiced) athlete is on top of the list.

I hope Bonds gets hurt as he falls one short and can never play again. And one question for all of you saying Babe Ruth is the true record holder. Yes he was a great player but Hank Aaron didn't break it using steroids or anything to help his game so why shouldn't he be looked at as the true holder if Bonds breaks it?

Yes he was a great player but Hank Aaron didn't break it using steroids or anything to help his game so why shouldn't he be looked at as the true holder if Bonds breaks it? Because Ruth pretty much ing invented the Home Run. The man was hitting more total HR's than entire ball clubs. Add to that, the fact that he was one of the best PITCHERS of his time. I believe he still holds pitching records to this day.

Babe Ruth was hitting 40, 50, and 60 home runs when it meant something. Nowadays 30-40 home runs is common. When Ruth hit 60 in 1927, Lou Gehrig was second in the AL with 47, and only 6 other players broke 10. Ruth tied the league lead in homers in 1918 with 11. 11 home runs is nothing, right? Sure, but he was a pitcher.
People make a big deal over bonds and clemens doing what they're doing at their age... Ruth was productive up until the age of 40. Keep in mind, this was in the 1930's, where medicine wasn't as perfected as it is nowadays, and life expectancy was generally much shorter.
People suck Jackie Robinson's proverbial cock for "breaking the color barrier." I respect Jackie Robinson, and he was a fantastic ballplayer... but Babe Ruth single handedly changed the game of baseball. "Chicks dig the longball?" Well, you have George Herman Ruth to thank for that, Ladies...

Im just amazed (in the same way that Carlos "Ned" Mencia has fans) that Bonds has any supporters.
To those who are fans of Bonds, please..tell me why? Not to be condescending towards any of you, but...really tell me why so I can, perhaps, understand better why he has any sort of a fan base....
