I was wondering if there was anyone else out there that has stayed with Jakks only and NEVER switched over to Mattel? I am one that can say, I honestly never switched over...Jakks Classic Superstars have always been the core of my collection and interest. I have never seen anything from Mattel that would even make me consider switching. I was just wondering after all these years, how many people are there that never crossed over?

I think I can say…you’re the only one. I decided I didn’t want the Mattel figures until I saw Mattel WWE Elite series 8 Sheamus and Drew McIntyre ... well not the figures exactly, but the WWE Championship Title Belt (spinner) and the WWE Intercontinental Championship Title Belt (oval with the nameplate). I instantly had an inner battle in my head. I thought, “These Championship Title Belts look cool, but there are only 2 of them. Maybe I’ll wait till I see more.” Today I have about 10 Mattel WWE figures (7 Elites and 3 Basics), and 100s of Mattel WWE Championship Title Belts (all of the kids sized versions and select action figure sized versions I want). I never thought I would see anyone on WFigs who didn’t crossover. You are the "Sting" of figure collecting ... well at least until he finally went to the WWE.

I recall saying that I was going to stop collecting when news of Mattel taking over officially hit. There was no fathoming how anything could be better than Jakks....then I picked up the Royal Rumble Beth Phoenix and I was hooked lol.
I can’t say Mattel is superior, both have their good and bad. Jakks does have a better accessories. I would LOVE to see Mattel do cloth jackets/clothing over the rubber crap they produce. Jakks also has a better variety of Classic Superstars. I’m still confused as to why Mattel has made Tugboat, The Shark, Berzerker and Tatanka but still no Sherri lol. And I’m dying to know when or if Wendi Richter will be released.

I hadn't collected Jakks since the peak of Attitude Era figures in 2000/2001. I randomly picked up Survivor Series Heritage The Rock in Asda about 7 years ago. The likeness was so good. My collection grew from there. Fellow forum member NMC swore he would never switch to Mattel (he has 100s of mint loose Jakks) but after purchasing a few figures of characters never made by Jakks, he made the switch. Jakks were easier to find, better value, more accessories, cheaper etc but the toy industry has changed so much since them, its unfair to compare. I prefer Mattel's work personally, but there are some Jakks likenesses/headscans that are still absolutely incredible. Your profile picture tells me you're a little bit tempted though! Surely THIS tempted you??

Surely THIS tempted you?? As said above, I was NEVER gonna switch! EVER!! BUT I ended up owning pretty much every character Jakks had ever made and I always had the rule of one figure per gimmick, so I really had no choice... Especially when I seen the DM Steamboat, and the first Macho Man! How could anyone not be tempted to switch after seeing those!

Plus, Ric Flair is my favorite wrestler and I think this figure will look nice on my desk ☺

Well it is hard to say I would stick to a company that stopped producing WWE figures. I still have all my Jakks displayed and I continued to buy the Jakks figures they released that I liked. Such as Sting, Steiner, Foley, Nash, Terry Taylor, Raven.

I'm still a huge jakks guy. I love the huge bodies that everyone hates. Mattel ones are just so small looking to me, doesn't appeal to me at all. although I have brought some Mattel to convert into Jakks style.
I've never understood the huge hatred

For me it's never been a Jakks vs. Mattel thing, but simply that I like collecting WWE figures. I've always embraced change with WWE figures over the years. From BCA to TTL to R3 to RA and everything in between to Mattel.

Since I stopped collecting Jakks in 2009, I only brought E22 Rock in 2014 because I always wanted a full Samoan tattoo Rock. Never buying a wrestling figure again though.

All I can do is admire those strong enough to stop and not pick it up again. I just recently talked myself into not needing every female figure. I was buying Sasha’s and Alexa’s, I don’t even like them! I’m doing a one and done unless it’s someone I really like. It’s an addiction for real.
At least, with Jakks done, you have a chance to catch up and get ones you possibly missed out on. With Mattel, there is no catching up 😭 I just got a break cause Eva is my favorite and, obviously, she ain’t getting anymore figures right now.
There are a few Jakks I wish I can pick up. I never got the CS Stephanie or that exclusive Sherri!

I've never understood the huge hatred I'm on board with this feeling, I like the bigger bodies that Jakks produced. Mattels often look a bit skinny to me, even the big guys. That said, I did buy Kamala when he first hit my local K-Mart as one of the Legends line, as I just loved the expression and detail, plus the accessories! I still buy Jakks on ebay for my custom work for the most part, as the figures are so cheap. And there are some of their figures that I just don't feel Mattel has done any better in their line. Unfortunately, I can't say I'm a purist who has stayed with Jakks alone, I've got that handful of Mattels mixed in!

90% of Mattels headsculpts look like trash to me, so I was able to resist for years. But I'm starting to finally give in.
It started with just picking up a few guys that Jakks never did, like steamboat and savage and Bryan and the new day. Then I started picking up the old school managers, because I prefer my managers to be shorter than the wrestlers. But then I start picking up stuff like brown costume Mankind and WM12 HBK because they were cheap. And then I see all the detail on the HOF4 Diesel and Piper, and I need to get those too. And now im considering replacing a bunch of my jakks figs because theyre out of scale with my shiny new toys.
It's a slippery slope man.

I tried to stick with Jakks for awhile. even bought the FTCs but they weren't good quality so I got rid of them all by giving them to local Goodwill. a lot more room for Mattel figs now..

I also shifted a load of old loose jakks to make room for mattel as they're just better in my eyes. Well elites.

I stayed with Jakks and MUCH prefer them to Mattel. I think Mattel diva figures are ok and fit with the Jakks scale.
I have a few good Mattels like my signed Paige and Alexa elites but Jakks will always be my main collection.

originally i refused to buy mattels, after completing a loose and carded set of classic superstars and at least 1 of every other wrestler jakks made, however when mattel started releasing legends that jakks were never able to i started, picking up the occasional legend, ( The Von Erichs, Savage, Steamboat) and now it has unfortunately escalated to include most of their flashback releases.
