Yes lads, by and large, I'm not a big holiday guy (which is fortunate because a) I'm scared of flying and b) my passport expired). But had a bit of an up and down year so far and my brain is just completely fried The wife is off to Spain for two weeks in August, and I really wanted to get away somewhere for a couple of days. Just fancied somewhere relatively peaceful where I can do some walking and just chill out, get away from work and get away from having my head in my phone for like 15 hours a day Anyone got anywhere they'd recommend? Looking at lodges, holiday parks, that kind of thing. I'm in Bolton, not wanting to travel a million miles but 2 hours is cool Obviously, feel free to turn this into a general holiday thread if you're on you're travels over the summer

There are some beautiful places in Lancashire, spent some time in Clitheroe and Id definitely go back, nowhere in the world like Lancashire

You are also bang in-between the Peak District, Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks, so many options just there to get away from it all. Only issue is if you are deciding to go now you are in the school holiday season so inevitably places will be busier and more expensive.

How about a nice trip to St Helens. You'll be greeted by local chavs who'll likely mug you. Being serious I'd say go to Wales. Get some sea air.

Hmm, the Haven caraven park at Seton Sands near Edinburgh. Portobello beach is quite a chill beach nearby and Edinburgh is quite a cultured tourist town and while it’s full of tourists, it has plenty of quiet spots too.

You can't go wrong with the Lake District if you want to relax and clear your head... you can do as much or as little as you want and there's some amazing scenery and walks.

Edinburgh has loads of places to walk about in and see/do, especially in August. Arthur's Seat, Botanic Gardens, the high street/royal mile to name a few. Plenty of Premier Inns/Hostels/Travel Lodges as well, but prices may be a bit pricier due to it being festival time

I'm currently saving for WrestleMania in New York next year. I've never really cared for summer holidays like most people my age go on. Holidays where you're just sitting on a beach doing nothing sound pretty boring to me. I'd much rather go on an adventure, and New York next year should be pretty amazing. After that I'm gonna try and travel more often now that I have a good job and a new passport! I wanted to go on some road trips and do cool stuff this summer but alas, my friends are unreliable and only ing let me down. Sometimes I like to be a tourist in my own city and see some cool places like museums, parks, rivers and nice quiet, secluded places where you can be one with nature.

As others have said, I’d recommend the Yorkshire Dales. Get a nice lodge for a few nights and enjoy the fresh air and local hikes.

It only started last year so the fridge door isn't exactly full but I have ones from Amsterdam, Centre Parcs and Alnwick castle. Going to Edinburgh with my gf for a few days next month so I'll be on the lookout for a new one there.
