Brewers jsut arent that good, as much as I hate Sheets, losing him hurts. I dont know if the Cubs can do it with that pitching, but it sure is possible. 3rd in the league in ERA, 4th in whip, 2nd in strike outs?... I don't understand why their pitching gets such a bad rap... probably because half of their team goes unnoticed and overshadowed every time 21 mil dollar man Jason Marquis has a bad outing Sean Marshall quietly has a 3.10 ERA and 9 out of 12 quality starts... how long before he gets some notice? Rich Hill, despite giving up 21 home runs, still has a very respectable era of 3.67, a whip or 1.21, and is almost averaging 9 k's per 9 innings... I'll take that. He's going to mature too, and eventually learn to spot his curve better. Marquis is too inconsistent to judge, one night he looks fantastic and the next he's horse shit.. and he's probably why the Cubs rotation gets such a bad rap, because we spent 21 mil on him and no one really sees what else our team has to offer, because they have that image stuck in their mind. so thx jason. Ted Lilly has been fantastic... everything I could ask for. No, he's not a Chris Young caliber #2, but there aren't many who are... but moving to the NL has helped his career tenfold and he's a legit #2 now. I don't see anything wrong with having him in the top half of your rotation... Don't even need to speak for Zambrano, he's been arguably the best pitcher in baseball since mid-late June. Carlos Marmol's stats are absurd as well.. another guy that goes completely unnoticed, averaging 12 k's per 9, a whip around 1.00, era around 1.60.. Howry and Dempster, for as much flack as they get, have done acceptable jobs as well... I have nothing against either of them. 17/19 in save attempts for dempster, and 7/8 for Howry is perfectly fine with me. Would I have liked an upgrade there? Yes... do I feel that's the one weak spot of the team? Probably.. but I don't mind Dempster/Howry/Marmol and possibly Wood. Honestly, I didn't mean to make this as long as it was... but I really don't think pitching is a problem for the Cubs, not when they're close to the top in many categories. Maybe if it comes down to having more than one big game pitchers for a 5-game series... I can agree with that to an extent-- but how many teams in the NL really can say they have a handful of big game pitchers? The Padres, and maybe the Braves... that's it. Hudson-Smoltz and Peavy-Young... that's about it. I don't buy Sheets-Crapuano.

Ugh, seeing my idol get killed by the Team I hate the most depresses me. Please just retire at the end of the Season for good and stop ruining your career totals... hes to fixed on money and being better than Nolan Ryan IMO

Amazing game so far. Are the white sox that bad or are the yankees that good. A little bit of both but not enough of neither.

You could also argue that Ryan was successful with a lot less around him and a lot less steroids. Had he been given the chance to compete on better teams more often, who knows how many championships he might have. Not to mention, that Nolan Ryan did this:
