NEW YORK (Reuters) - A New York man has been charged with beating his mother to death with a barbell after losing his temper while watching a baseball game on television.
Michael Anthony, 25, was watching the New York Mets lose a game on Saturday from his home in the borough of Queens when he began furiously banging on the walls, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement on Monday.
His father Fred Fischman shouted at him to stop, but Anthony punched him in the face and threw him to the ground, according to the criminal charges.
When Anthony's mother, Maria Fischman, 61, tried to intervene, prosecutors said he stabbed her once in the head with a knife before chasing her into a bedroom where he struck her several times with the 20 pound (9 kilogram) barbell.
Ouch, what a puss.

indians are probably going to DFA Fernando Cabrera, an arm I'd love to see the Reds pick up.

Dodgers have like 3 other pitchers who are pitcher relievers/closers than Proctor...not to mention the actual closer

watch proctor become the ace closer in LA I think he will make this trade look bad for the Yankees. No, he is not going to close, but he has a manager who won't abuse him and make his shoulder fall off. Scott Proctor was, and still is a very effective reliever with fantastic stuff. I still don't get the idea of acquiring Wilson Betemit. What exactly is his role? We're behind in the East, and the Wild card... we have a healthy Alex Rodriguez, a healthy Derek Jeter, and a Healthy Robinson Cano, all having terrific seasons. I have heard that he may get some time at first base. Wonderful. We have Andy Phillips(like him or not), hitting .293. Why should he lose at bats and playing time to someone who has never played an inning at first base in his life? So, is he the new utility man? Great- Miguel Cairo had that role and has had all of 13 at bats since July 7th, and has played well in that limited time. Why should he lose playing time in favor of Betemit, regardless of how much younger he is? Better yet- why trade one of your more effective relievers for a utility man. Bottom line is- scott proctor is probably going to pitch 25-30 innings for the dodgers for the rest of the season, and wilson betemit is probably going to play mopup defense, and get about 15-20 at bats for the yankees the rest of the way... you tell me what is more valuable to a team that is in a deep hole?

The Proctor deal only made sense if A-Rod was leaving tomorrow or Gagne was coming. When the is Giambi supposed to be back?

Yeah, I figured it may have meant a Gagne deal was close... then I wouldn't have minded. But you don't trade quality relief pitching for utility men. Besides, if A-Rod does leave, Wilson Betemit is not going to start at third for this team for a full season.

The Proctor deal only made sense if A-Rod was leaving tomorrow or Gagne was coming. When the is Giambi supposed to be back? Well that is a big question and a big problem....when Giambi comes back where is he supposed to play? Johnny Damon has to be DH, Melky needs to play CF......Giambi CAN'T physically play a position so 1B is out of the question....so it looks like the Yankees are going to be paying either Giambi or Damon a LOT of money to sit on the bench and be a pinch hitter every once in a while.
