The Red Sox finish with the Twinkies son 3 games against the Twins to end the season is not going to make or break your year....you know what I meant when I said you pretty much only play Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Toronto.....trust me, 3 games against the Twins is not looming large as big games unless you only have less than a 3 game lead, which I don't see happening.

The only thing that scares me is the fact that the Yankees have a 2 man rotation right now- Wang and Pettitte... Clemens, Mussina, and Hughes(Not just Mussina, as the Media will make it out to be) have been utterly useless as of late. Sure, Mussina has been the worst, and Hughes gets a free pass because he's a rookie... but the only two guys I'm confident who can come up big when we need them are Pettitte and Wang.
If the bullpen wasn't completely useless without him, I'd be all for putting Chamberlain in the rotation.

If the bullpen wasn't completely useless without him, I'd be all for putting Chamberlain in the rotation. Well, tomorrow's game is huge in the fact that if Mike Mussina doesn't have a quality start, he'll never start another game for the Yankees and will NOT be back next year. I'm not saying he has to win, but if goes less than 5.0 innings or gives up more than 5 runs.....I'm thinking thats the end of him as a Yankee and you'll probably see Kennedy or Clippard/Karstens back up. Hughes hasn't impressed me, but like you said, he's a rookie, he'll get better. Mike Mussina has no upside...he's not going to get much better than he is right now at age 38...Phil Hughes isn't 22 yet and he's got his whole career ahead of him. Clemens is streaky, but IF the Yankees can somehow make the playoffs, in a game 3 after Wang and Pettitte pitched the first 2 games I would not have a problem throwing Roger Clemens out there....he steps up in big game situations. He was lights out on saturday....he got hosed on Friday against the same team. Personally I think it was because they had a 4 hour rain delay and he was trying to pitch at 2 in the God damn morning. If MLB does the RESPONSIBLE thing and calls that game and they do a 1:05pm/7:05pm double header...who knows, that thing could swing out totally different and Clemens could be on his A-Game like he was his last start. Let's see how he does on Wednesday against the Red Sox. That game is going to tell the tale on Roger Clemens and if it was a good idea or not to bring him back.

Newsflash to big game roger... Every game for the rest of the season is a "big game."
Mussina and Hughes should have one chance left each... this team has to win games to make the playoffs, and if they can't, two pitchers who can should be brought up... be it Kennedy, Clippard, Wright, Igawa, or whoever... both of them have been getting tattooed to a tune of a 5.00 era each, so its not like anyone can really do much worse than that.
I couldn't care less how Clemens does against Boston. He wasn't signed to beat the Red Sox. He was signed to help the yankees get to the playoffs... getting touched up for 6 runs against Detroit, going 1 2/3 innings against the White Sox, giving up 4 runs against Baltimore, and getting smacked around for 5 by Tampa bay is not big game pitching... I'd take a 4 inning 10 ER performance against Boston, if he would have won those other four games...
luckily the Yankees have their three "best" going in the boston series.

The Red Sox pretty much only play Baltimore, Toronto, and Tampa Bay for the entire month of September, so they can start printing the playoff tickets and the AL EAST t-shirts.. Not so fast. The Blue Jays are always kicking the Red Sox ass, Eric Gagne would blow a 27-run lead against the Orioles before Francoma has seen enough and for some odd reason, the Devil Rays have Mr Daisuke's number.

The Braves have pretty much played themselves out of the playoffs. Unfortunately. I swear, Jo-Jo Reyes should not pitch in a game for the rest of the season...or ever again for that matter. At least not for the Braves.

The Braves have pretty much played themselves out of the playoffs. That and the fact that the division is getting better as the Braves are getting older. The Mets are young and talented, and their stars aren't even in their prime. Same for the Phillies. The NL East is all about the youth right now, especially a lot of the players on the Marlins, who'll be a fun team to keep an eye on. You have a fun division to look after, I'm jealous.

Well, in some ways, the Braves are old, and others they aren't. Mostly, their pitching is old. But guys like Frenchy, McCann, Teixeira, Harris, Escobar, Johnson, and Diaz, really make things interesting, and fun. Chipper is old, but has had his most productiove season in years, even with Andruw sucking balls behind him in the lineup most of the season. If we can cut loose Andruw, and solidify the pitching, I really think they will be a fun team to watch as well. But you're right, the entire division is fun to watch. And as much as I hate the Mets, they have some great young players that are exciting.

I don't think he is completely finished, but he'll probably go back to Baltimore and finish his career where it started, or go to the NL and put up numbers that make him look like an ace again.

Hamden is a dirty dirty city right next to New Haven the best part about Hamden is Quinnipiac, don't fool yourself.
I think tonight is your must win for the Yankees, the next 3 are obviously must wins, but if they go into the Boston series losing tonight...its gonna be tough

I love how after every win its "YANKEES HAVE A CHANCE" then the next day when they lose a game its "YANKEES ARE DONE"
Make up your mind!
