Even though the Red Sox lost today, Gagne pitched well finally in a tough spot.
Here come the D-Rays though, so no worries.

Let Joba pitch more before deeming him the Yankees closer of the future.
How many games has he pitched? Less than 10?

I know...God forbid we get excited about the 2 brightest prospects in our system within the last decade. SHAME on us for actually believing these 2 kids could have a bright future in the majors.
Joba has been amazing and he and Edwar have given this bullpen stability. The team is winning, the bullpen is outstanding...I hate it when people try and put a damper on things just for the sake of it.
You can compare that kid in Boston's farm system to a young Johnny Damon all you want, but no one seems to have a problem with that.

The bullpen has been better, its still not one of the best in the league, not to mention this Ramirez kid isnt anything special, hes a poor mans Farnsworth. Not to mention, has not been that great in the majors.
Chamberlain is a solid STARTING prospect, not a reliever, Papelbon was a freak example because Theo was an idiot and thought Keith Foulke was a pitcher still.
Rarely will you ever see a stud starter move to the bullpen unless theres a pressing need/injury, but you will NEVER see a young stud starter move to the pen.
Chamberlain has pitched 6 innings and Ramirez 4.2....10.2 innings is not a barometer for greatness especially with Ramirez sporting a lovely 7 something ERA

That is typical of what all fans say about their rival's prospects. According to Boston fans, after 1 game Clay Buchholz is going to win 10 straight Cy Young's and Joba, Wang, Edwar and Hughes will probably never record another Major league out........so I don't even pay attention to what Boston fans have to say about our kids because a lot of it is just wishful thinking that they crash and burn.

Chamberlain has pitched 6 innings and Ramirez 4.2....10.2 innings is not a barometer for greatness especially with Ramirez sporting a lovely 7 something ERA Edwar Ramirez is a poor man's Kyle Farnsworth? Too bad their styles of pitching are absolutely nothing alike. Ramirez was a horrible reliever in the past with the Angels because he didn't develop his changeup until just recently. He's been a solid reliever for the most part since he added his changeup to his arsenal. Plus, his style of pitching compliments what you get from Farnsworth, Joba, Viz, Rivera, etc. It throws teams off when you face guys throwing in the upper 90s to a guy throwing in the low 90s with a 70 MPH changeup. Joba is going to be a starter next season, which is why I don't go onto comparing him to Rivera or anything. The reason he's up with the team this year is because the Yankees weren't able to get Gagne and it was clear they needed somebody in their bullpen at the deadline. Joba was the best option since we really had nothing to lose by trying him out. He's not going to surpass his innings total anyway and the Yankees are being very careful with him. Next year, you could potentially be looking at a rotation of Wang, Pettitte, Hughes, Mussina and Chamberlain. Plus, if all goes well, Ian Kennedy could be part of the rotation come 2008. Personally, I'd take that rotation and have Cashman go out and get another reliever since Joba will be moved to the rotation. No one is saying this team has the best bullpen in the majors, but I can safely say that I feel very comfortable with the way the pen looks right now. Vizcaino, Joba, Edwar, and even Farnsworth have done a solid job in recent weeks.

i heard a good stat today, that proves why pedroia needs to win ROTY, he is on pace to have the highest batting average of any second basemen in their rookie season in the history of the MLB.
