No. Chuck Liddell is still one of the biggest draws in MMA, and will be even if he loses his next fight.

the thing with chuck though is howq long has he been this bad and we haven't noticed? i mean since ufc 47 he has beat .....
vernon white (lion's den) randy couture (lucky punch) jeremy horn (good on the smaller shows) randy (randy was not focused) babalu (the idiot chased chuck who is a counter striker) tito (not a huge win now-a-days)
and just before ufc 47 he got done up proper by rampage and randy
and he got dominated by rampage and jardine after the tito win.
i feel he has become a huge name by luck and rampage, shogun and wandy being in pride during this peroid.
your thoughts?

My thoughts are the last time he fought Randy he won. Which made Randy "retire" Chuck was a ligitamte badass but his competition got stale when he was at his peek. Now MMA is getting huge and Chuck is on the downslide of his career. Like it or not The Iceman will be a godfather in the MMA foundation when all is said and done. He will be up with Shamrock, Gracie, Ortiz, Couture. Those are the most influentail founders of MMA. Sure Fedor will be there (has already earned his spot) Wanderlai, Trigg (I would say Mirko but way to much 2 dimensional)

I could care less what Dana says. Either its all talk, OR he's getting Vince McMahon syndrome and growing a huge ego. Dana's been talking alot of trash lately and I don't buy a lot of it. If chuck took some time off, I'm fine with that. He's still a great draw, and when Randy Couture is a title holder at 44, Chuck's got plenty of time.

I think it is very true what was said. That he hasn't really fought the best of the best.
I do however disagree with a win against Tito isn't much anymore. Because Tito is still a legitimate name in MMA. His only poor performances were against Chuck and Couture.
But since all these pride fighters have come to the UFC I think the competition is just so stacked in the light heavyweight division that we are going to see a lot of big names that used to be maineventers on the undercard.
look at all the light-heavyweight fighters that could fight for the title. Rampage(champ) Chuck Tito Rashad Evans Wandy Shogun Jardine Griffin Henderson
Thats just off the top of my head. The competition in that division is ridiculous. I would love to see a couple of those names perhaps change weight classes. Maybe to the middleweight division as I think that is without a doubt the weakest division in the UFC. It really only has Franklin and Silva.

I don't think he should infact retire, Though I don't respect his attitude.

Jason McDonald is really a great ground guy. But I think a great all-around fighter would destroy him. That was pretty much proven with a hungry all though timid Rich Franklin.

The Middleweight division is the worst division in the UFC but I wouldn't say it's terrible. Silva and Franklin are both great fighters, Henderson is the only person that could take the title away from Silva, IMO. I think Macdonald is someone who's ready to be in the title picture. But beyond that there's not that many fighters that can contend for the title right now. I think Grove is the future of that division but he's maybe 1 or 2 years away from it. Cote used to be a can but let's see if he can turn it around after a big win against Kendall, Leben and Herman will never be in the title picture, and I don't think Lindland is going to come back to the UFC seeing as how much he hates Dana.

No way would Dana waqnt Chuck to retire as a lot of fresh main event matches he could still have with fighters he's never faced.
He's a huge draw still & imagine the money he'd make Dana vs. Shogun/ Forrest/ Henderson/ Silva (if this freaking fight ever happens!!)/ Houston Alexander/ Rashad/ Bisping etc.
Chuck has done well for so long as mainly faced wrestlers which his style is great against, takedown defence & crisp hard counter strikes. Last two fighters against decent strikers has seen an obvious weakness in his game. Liddell needs to go & get himself into a different training camp like a lot of great fighters do, staying in the Pit isn't going to help him adapt his style.

Chuck Liddell is the next Ken Shamrock in that, no matter if he wins or loses, the fans still love him and will pay to see him. He just needs a break, some time to re-focus and he'll be right back at the top once he deals with the mental problems associated with a couple of tough losses.
