A lot of meat on the bone on this topic
I understand a lot of my fellow UK'ers being pissed off, but the truth is this. These figures are accessible to us, and I don't mean via secondary sellers. It's not that Smyths can't source these figures for us, it's that they won't (I mean they might, but there's a good chance they won't), and the reason they won't is because we won't buy them. Why are they gonna stick their neck out to stock exclusives when the truth is beyond this site, there just isn't a whole lot of demand
All in all though it's a frustrating time to be a collector in the UK. If this was back in the day and you didn't know the true extent of what was out there, and collecting was simply a case of going out and seeing what was available then it wouldn't be an issue, but to know there's stuff out there that you can't get your hands on makes the hobby a lot harder to enjoy...
and yeah, I know you can get them on eBay, Amazon, those sites, but have you seen Mattel's paintwork? Some of it's flat out embarrassing. I saw that Undisputed Era insider video that Ringside posted yesterday and the paint on some of them was nauseating. Am I gonna drop £40 on getting a store exclusive knowing there's a good chance I'm gonna get some kinda Picasso nonsense? No way Pedro
I'm glad to see the US collectors aren't happy either though, not that I'm happy that they'll have a hard time in tracking stuff down, but because I feel somewhat justified in being a bit disappointed. Mattel seem to go above and beyond to serve their retailers by giving them all these exclusives and what have you, but don't have a whole lot of consideration for the common man who just wants to buy their product but has to jump through fiery hoops to get it

I don't think "chase" is the right phrasing. They're store exclusive figures, but will be available in every case.
This is where I guess things were heading when Bill said Backlund was in E63. Ultimately I'd suggest taking a wait and see. It all depends on how available these are. There's a minimum number of pieces Mattel needs to make to make things financially viable, and cases ship in even numbers of figures. If these are two per case, they should be relatively easy to find for those with access to the stores.
From a business perspective, it's smart by Mattel. My guess is that to do these exclusive figures, retailers had to commit to ordering X cases, which guarantees Mattel sales and distribution of every series in those stores. We've seen Walmart or Target skipping series, or over-ordering a couple series (E54/55 in my area) and then later series don't make it to shelves or only hit sporadically. This is probably their attempt at getting the biggest brick and mortar retailers to commit to buying product (so Mattel isn't clearancing thousands of cases to discount retailers) and hopefully getting it to stores on schedule.
Time will tell I guess. But IF these figures are readily available, I'm all for it.

Hopefully target and Walmart’s will actually stock these, unlike the flashback and Nxt lines. What area are you in that Wal Marts are not stocking the Flashbacks? Out of the 20 WM’s in my area, I’d say 19 have stocked and restocked both Series 1 & 2. Haven’t been difficult to find at all Target has improved. They stock the stuff, just a lot slower I welcome this idea, like someone else said. If it gets Elites of people who won’t sell in the main line. Bring them on. If I can’t find them, then there’s always the classifieds, eBay or 100 other ways to get them

So how about the 6 waves my Target has skipped entirely so far? If that wave is a chase wave then I'm screwed. Chase's work for things like POPs because there's a guaranteed hit in every case and most of the time they go to every store. So many waves have been skipped between Walmart and Target around here.

As a store-exclusive hater... this. That said, I can't wait to get them all.

UK Champion Pete Dunne is an American Store Exclusive, Essentially a FU to any collector outside of North America,
It's fair to say UK collectors have been feeling increasingly alienated & this is a smack in the face.
Slowly turning into Mattels B*tch over here...nope.

So can someone shed light on the two Amazon pre-orders I have purchased (one for Backlund, one for Sherri)? If these two are Walmart exclusives, why was I able to pre-order them through Amazon? Should I assume these will be cancelled or is there any chance of getting these fulfilled? Doubt anyone has all the answers but wanted to bring this to the conversation to hopefully get some eyeballs on it.

Wow..Scalpers are gonna eat these up. It's like they want people to quit collecting. I am close to giving up on the line all together. Wal-Mart and Target skip waves all the time. People have been asking for Sherri and Backlund for years and this is how we get them? One word to describe this...Boooo.

After a certain amount of time with them not being fulfilled Amazon will just automatically cancel the order. It happens with most of the figures Amazon puts up for "pre-order".

WFIGS: We want figures in our collection that hold value! We want something to chase thats more than a chair or a slammy! We want more flashbacks and current stars faster Mattel, no matter how!
Mattel: Ok, here are some store exclusive chase figures!
WFIGS: Noooooooo, you are doing it all wrong! You just killed the buisness!!!!
With so many outlets from physical stores, store websites, Amazin, forum classifieds, and secondary markets like ebay, you will be able to obtain these. Could it cost more than MSRP? Possibly, but you CAN get them.

Mattel has done this before with their lines, usually the store exclusives ship in their own cases and not part of the main line. They had use to say they couldn't add figures to waves as exclusives because it wasn't viable to have 2 different production cases being produced at the same time. the DC Multiverse Spoiler with alternate Lex piece is a Wal-Mart exclusive shipping in it's own wave aside from the mainline.

Yeah, I realize this is new for the WWE line, but this distribution method is used in other toy lines and is not a new concept. I completely understand the frustration for international collectors. But these aren't the same as chase figures that are being inserted in one out of every 3 or 4 cases. They will be in every single case shipped to a given retailer. People tend to have kneejerk reactions to anything new or different. But when some of these more niche figures get widespread releases and don't fly off the shelves the second they hit you have people complaining that they're pegwarmers. When Mattel scales back production so it's in line with demand...people complain the figures are too hard to get.

I hate to add to complaining. However this is just a bit much. I’ve almost all but stopped collecting because of this store exclusive bull crap. Target is one of the worst with stocking. At least Walmart is a little more consistent. Not by much.
I REALLY think Mattel should do an active survey to see how well stores stock exclusive products BEFORE they agree to select stores. Many of us have said how lame our local stores are with stocking. I don’t think it should be a “take a pic of your WWE section...” no, this should be Mattel going into stores and seeing first hand the stuff rotting on the shelves. Evaluate, put themselves in a collector’s shoes, hire a few grunts to take note of the pitiful selection out there. Then maybe it would show them the situation many of us are trying to convey.
At any case, I want my man Pete Dunne 😍. He looks great! Wanted Sherri too but ya know...maybe if this exclusive thing didn’t irritate me, I’d consider picking them all up. Oh well.

I hate going to stores to look for stuff anymore. I haven’t really hunted for figures in a while. I rather just buy online now and have it.

Mattel has veered so far off course compared to where they started.
I understand making specific sets like Network Spotlight or Fan Central store exclusives, but now you're dipping into the main line?
I don't collect nearly as much as I used to (I buy maybe 3-4 figures per year now) and when I did I didn't buy throwback guys, but just as mostly an outsider now...this is pretty shady towards die hard collectors.

Sorry, didn't watch the hour long podcast. So what is chase about these figure? Are there going to be two different figures for each listed (Backlund, Sherri, and the other two)? Or are the gonna be in some boxes that go to stores and not others? Does that mean, for instance Series 63, that Backlund will be in some boxes replacing one of the figures in the set like Dusty, then in other boxes Dusty will be there but Backlund won't? I'm kind-of confused.
