So recently I was clearing out a lot of stuff in my house when I discovered a box hidden in the loft that had well over 30 VHS videos. Now I hadn't seen any of these from I was a kid and they were recordings of old cartoons I liked along with WWE PPVs.
Nostalgia became too much so I started playing them and to my surprise the picture was perfect despite not being played in 20 years. There was one video however that was blank and when I played it there was a few random episodes of Heat from the invasion era along with the ending of a Mortal Kombat Conquest episode. I had completely forgotten about these and it was as if a part of my childhood had returned so I put them back in the box and into storage because I just could not get rid of them.
It has got me thinking have any of you guys got old VHS recordings and if so what is your oldest event?

Gosh hard to remember because I don't have them anymore. The one I remember the most was the tape with Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage from 1986, when Hogan lost the match by countout and I couldn't believe it. It might have been the coliseum WWF Most Embarrassing Moments tape (1987 issue). Not sure.

Gah. I have over 300 videotapes. I keep meaning to get them ripped into my computer. Most of them are JCP/NWA episodes from 1984+. I have a lot of SNME episodes and countless hours of Piper's Pits, Piper matches, interviews & promos.

All my tapes are gone now. I had every WCW & WWE PPV from 1988 - 1998, but when we moved I put them in storage and the roof leaked and ruined them all.

Theres legit a box in my living room right now (3ft from me) full of old VHS tapes. I was suppose to trade them to a guy on instagram for PPV posters but he backed out on me.

At one time I had boxes upon boxes full of VHS tapes. Now after what felt like forever all of em are now transferred onto DVD.
As far as original recordings go, 2 off the top of my head I have in my collection are SSeries 87 and The Bunkhouse Stampede 88.

The oldest PPV I have that was recorded from the live airing was the 1991 Royal Rumble. Complete with the five-minute intermission with Lord Alfred Hayes talking about the upcoming European tour. As for TV shows, I have no clue. Through a source (I am not allowed to mention where), I was able to get the Closed Circut airings of the First two WrestleMania's and the live PPV airings of Survivor Series 1987 and WrestleMania IV.

I've always found the WWE VHS's way more collectible and special than the DVD's. It's as if they had more character about them. It's cool that you have recordings that old. My oldest are Raw is Owen and Armageddon 1999.

Even though my VHS days are over, anytime I see em at a flea market, garage sale etc. I still get nostalgia overload. After all it's what us older fans grew up on.

I don't have any tapes. I do see them at thrift stores now and then. I still have a VCR hooked up though.

I will ALWAYS maintain a working VCR for these gems. Back in summer 2008 I went on a big Coliseum buying binge. One of the tapes was a Best of WWF tape, and there was a match on it, I swear I remember this, with Hulk and Savage vs. The Hart Foundation. I was so surprised. My favorite though is the commercial tapes of the Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs.

I didn't get a VCR until Christmas 1995. Recorded the next episode of Mania or Livewire or whatever it was at the time. Played the "Tell Me a Lie" montage at least 400 times over the holidays.
