So Saturday was an eventful day for me to say the least. Was going up to Niagara Falls, Canada, to meet my all-time favorite wrestler, Bret Hart, for the first time after all these years (don't think a high five from ringside in 1994 counts the same).
Both Bret and Bruce Prichard were at a Horror convention. They normally have comic cons up there but because the wrestlers always do so well at those assuming that's why they brought some back for this. Not really any lines for that reason, which was awesome.
Bret was his usual quiet self ... not unpleasant, but, you know, he was Bret. Told him that he was always my favorite and that of all the wrestling I've watched his matches hold up better than anyone else's. His response: "I believe that." Hahahahaha. Couldn't have been any more perfect.
Then for the really fun stuff. On my way home (I have like a 45-minute drive back to Buffalo), like a half mile from the Canadian bridge my car completely locked up/shut down on a winding turn. No breaks, no steering, nothing. I smashed into a gigantic brick wall, but I turned out to be INCREDIBLY lucky -- because of the nature of the curve it didn't end up being head on like I anticipated ... the right side of my car was banged up bad but I thought it was going to fold like an accordion. My car was now turned 180 degrees and facing traffic head on, which was the next scary part. Luckily the first drivers to turn up slowed accordingly and helped me push it into one lane. I was still worried that somebody was going to come flying around this curve and hit me (I was right around a blind spot) and others noticed this so another guy pulled over with blinkers and sat back cause he saw the same brutal blind spot. I sat on a cement median, cops came and blocked off traffic. Ironically enough, after more help arrived the car started fine and I drove it -- very, very slowly -- back to Buffalo but never plan on driving it again. Apparently the car shut down as a precaution because the engine was about to blow. I'm really thankful for friendly Canadiens and so lucky it wasn’t worse.
To end a more positive note, lol, here's some more autos I got a few weeks back at the Hamilton Comic Con. All of those wrestlers were super friendly. A couple good weeks of signings, and it only took one near-death experience along the way!
