I was looking to do some swaps and wanted to know ahead of time if it would be at all possible.

It has worked well for me so far. Here is a James Ellsworth one I did using a Mattel elite head on a Jake Roberts Hasbro body I just had to doctor up the neck a little so he didn’t look so funny

Ouch. Has anyone noticed that the heads on the new retros are rubber-like, not hard plastic?

Did you need to extend the peg? And did you sculpt a neck to the shoulders? Or to the head? Any tips and/or pics would be much appreciated!

If I remember correctly the Jake Roberts figure has a cone shaped peg. It was hard to put the Mattel head over it without shaving it down a bit. But I liked the way the Ellsworth one sat, so I just sculpted a neck for it on the shoulders and glued the head in place seated on the top of the peg. The putty I have is from Games Workshop and works really well. I’ve had a few that I just glued the head in place, I figured losing the head pivot was a small price for a figure that lacked a neck and looked like the head had sunk into the shoulders.

Ok, cheers for the reply. I’ve been trying a bit of customising hasbros and am still figuring out what works best for me - but I 100% agree that the sunken head/no neck look is not good! I’ve just been trialing an extension to the hasbro neck peg; kind of mullered it & had to glue it as it is settle for this, but seems to have worked for this head...

That’s looking like a nice work around. I also did a Samoa Joe using an old Jim Duggan figure. It turned out pretty good (one of my personal favorites) though I found out that model has the peg built in as part of the head with a disc inside the body for rotating. I don’t usually crack open the body’s as I find I usually damage them doing so. So I just used a hack saw and cut it off. Then molded a neck for the Joe head and glued it on.

How do you remove the Hasbro heads to begin with?

How do you remove the Hasbro heads to begin with? Put the figure in boiling water for 2 minutes, take out with tongs & hold in a cloth & pull it off! If it won’t come of easy just keep repeating the 2 mins in boiling water until it comes off 👍🏻

I’ve used a couple of Jim Duggan figures for my customs. His head is on a peg with a disc that sets inside the torso. You’d have to split the torso to get it out properly. I don’t like splitting the torsos as I haven’t had much luck doing it without damaging the figure. So for the Jim Duggan ones I did, I just cut off the head using a hacksaw. The irony of that is definitely not lost on me LOL

Likewise with the heads which have their ‘peg’ molded as part of the actual head, heat them enough & the whole head & peg pull out.

I'm surprised that they fit a Hasbro body
