I love how a lot of people are acting like Omega signing is so obvious and boring. They clearly don’t watch his stuff if they’re that butt hurt over people being excited he’s confirmed for AEW. Yes everyone knew most likely he’d end up in AEW but the offers he received were serious life changing offers. So let people enjoy things please. I bet WWE wishes they’d of kept Cody and made him a star, because he’s costing them more money than they’d of ever payed him. Oh yeah, WWE is so gonna regret letting Cody Christ go. Im sure they saw that press conference and thought "S***, we really f***ed with Cody". Im sure FOX and Saudi Arabia are now gonna cancel their deals with WWE and go All In with All Elite Wrestling. Yeah, they're really being cost tons of money........... BTW, I agreed with everything you said about Omega, just that last two sentences just threw me off to my sarcastic post. You had me til that. They are being cost tons of money. In the grand scheme of things, no they aren’t going to hurt WWE enough to really see any effect on the surface. WWE will still hit the marks they need to hit, but there is a bleed in there that can’t be denied. A shirt sale for AEW is a t shirt sale not for WWE. They are going to offer more money across the board for talent now, because of AEW. And even bigger money for guys like Lesnar. Maybe less people sign up for the network this year because of a more accessible AEW. I understand the hype gets a little out of hand at times for AEW, but to act like they are irrelevant just doesn’t make sense.

Id be the biggest idiot to say they're irrelevant.....at least to the hardcore wrestling audience. To the casuals, they are irrelevant. The hype is getting too much cause now AEW has the unfortunate task to live up to the huge hype, and the best they're being hyped, its near impossible to live up to the hype. Ill still keep the narrative that WWE wont be hurt by AEW, at least not yet. Their home grown guys are not going to go anywhere, no matter what goofy websites say the majority of the roster are unhappy. However, i will buy the narrative that WWE will offer more money to guys AEW want when their contracts run out. Like right now I dont buy that WWE went to their guys that they'll match whatever offer AEW gives out because legally AEW cant approach guys with deals until their contracts are up and/or they're into the negotiation process. Things arent the way they were in 1995 when WCW was around. Theres a reason WWE has the no compete clauses in their contracts. To avoid stuff like what happened in WCW. Realistically I only see Rusev, Lana and the Revival definitely going to AEW when their contracts run out. But hey, I could be wrong. I was wrong about Kenny Omega going to WWE. I could be wrong about AEW, but this time Im willing to believe that AEW is just going to be another TNA, except with less patience

Wrestling fans in general are too tribalist. I see a lot of comments from NJPW or WWE hardcore fans ripping Omega apart for not signing with the company they follow because they won't get to see match X or Y. The guy seems really happy, is making good money, will still be wrestling and having great matches, and gets to do it with some of his close friends. I wish people could just be happy for him, and if they like his work and the product watch it. If not, don't.
There are a lot of questions still for AEW. I'm loving a lot of the roster so far, and the build for some of these Double or Nothing matches has been pretty interesting for the limited platform they have to work with. But for a company featuring the Bucks, the tag scene is still very underdeveloped, and the women's division is on par with the local indy in your high school gym right now. There's still plenty of time and one or two signings could totally change that. We're only seeing a part of the puzzle.
I think people online are maybe twisting what competition means. Competition doesn't have to be AEW trying to put Vince out of business ala Bischoff. That's not happening today or ever. But if they can run a profitable promotion with ~1M viewers with solid marketing and booking, it'll be a viable and sustainable company that will be a win-win for talent and fans.
But expecting wrestling fans to have realistic hype/expectations is a losing battle. These are the same people that act like Joe Schmo in their favorite indy is on the same level as Misawa or Stone Cold.

I want a defined roster and not a bunch of cross promoting other promotions. Oh and a tv deal

I see Fenix had an injury scare that could’ve have been disastrous to the company and they don’t even have a tv deal yet. I’d really love to learn more about the healthcare package and the wording that goes with it. Some of these guys that are signed work a crazy style.

Tony Khan did an interview with the Observer. It was a lot of talking in circles and saying they don't want to give away any surprises. But there were a few interesting points:
-They want to present a more sports based product where wins and titles matter, and wrestlers are chasing something. -It sounds like there's going to be a lot of focus on production quality, and they've hired someone who has been involved with wrestling production for decades going as far back as WCW and WCCW. -It sounds like there is going to be a lot of international talent coming in. -He compared the AEW women's division with WCW's Cruiserweight division in terms of a showcasing something people haven't seen yet and a fast paced workrate. -Tony sounds to be heavily involved with a number of different companies - makes me wonder how much time he will ultimately have for AEW. He said he is in charge of scouting undrafted players for the Jaguars, has a hands on role with the soccer team they own, and has his own analytics business that works with baseball and soccer teams. -He brought up 80's territory wrestling a lot and seemed to really know his history. -He mentioned trying to draw back in the millions of wrestling fans who have stopped watching since the peak Attitude Era/90's viewers.
From a business standpoint, I like a lot of what I'm hearing. But it sounds like the Elite guys are going to have a lot on their shoulders on the office side, plus being the top in ring stars. That's asking them to wear a lot of different hats and to take on roles where they have zero past experience.

It's funny how a lot of people are all over themselves and so happy that talent is running the front offices but yet these are the same people who got all upset that the McMahons and HHH book themselves to win and promos and whatnot. Because if wrestling has taught anyone anything, letting the talent have so much creative control and whatnot worked out VERY well for WCW!

Because if wrestling has taught anyone anything, letting the talent have so much creative control and whatnot worked out VERY well for WCW! I think you're oversimplifying a lot. Hunter is the only McMahon who is/was a full time wrestler, despite them being a focal point of the show going back to the 90's. And in WCW you had guys like Hogan and Nash who were past their prime and looking to protect their spot to make as much money as possible with as little work as they could at the expense of younger workers. The Elite guys are all in their prime. They don't really have any other stars beyond Jericho right now. There are plenty of mistakes they can make, and the risk of not building new stars is always there for every company. But every situation is unique. I have a lot of questions and concerns about these guys' abilities as bookers, managing a locker room full of their friends, their business experience, etc. But everything has to be taken at its own merits, and most comparisons I see to TNA or WCW completely ignore the fact that this is a very different business environment than 10-20 years ago.

Anyone able to get their Double or Nothing tickets? Kind of upset I was only able to score uppers but at least I'll be in the building. Already had my flight and hotel booked last week so had to make sure I at least got something.

Already had my flight and hotel booked last week so had to make sure I at least got something. I bought a ticket for my wife. Section 216 row A. We booked the hotel already, but still not sure if we are going. It will all depend whether or not I'm shooting the show. But I at least wanted to have her covered.

I saw online people are reselling tickets for super higher prices than originally bought. I mean, its just business and they can do what they want with their tickets, but that's a real scumbag thing to do.

I've been hearing and reading a lot of AEW since it was announced, just one thing I never came across and maybe some of you may have more info? Is AEW planning on doing story line based wrestling? Like lots of promos, backstage stuff, etc? Or is it going to be more wrestling focused like many other indie companies?
I think if they really want to compete with the big dogs in wrestling they are going to have to cater to a lot of different wrestling fans (mostly a good mix between promo/story line stuff and high quality wrestling)
I'd like to see them succeed but I can't really see them doing the stuff I want with the promo side of things. I'm really hoping they bring a post attitude era/RA feel to their shows, that mixed in with great talent would be devastating to some other promotions.
